District Overview

Kiewit Foundations Co. is a full-service geotechnical foundation contractor operating across North America. Our experience and expertise cover a wide range of specialty foundation construction for both structural and ground improvement solutions. We operate in the transportation, power, water/wastewater, mining, building, industrial, oil, gas, and chemical markets. Our rapidly growing foundations business, which includes drilled shafts, micro piles, driven piles, auger cast-in-place piles, full displacement piles, soil mixing, support of excavation, anchors, tie-backs, stone columns, and other geotechnical solutions is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit focused on delivering differentiated solutions.

This role will require candidates to fully relocate to an active project site or candidates must be willing to work on TDY (per diems), and be available on the project site full time with the opportunity to travel home on a turnaround schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the company environmental health and safety programs at the project and district level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work.
  • Compiling, analyzing, and interpreting occupational illness and accident statistical data at the project and district level; recommending process and product safety features that will reduce employee exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
  • Routinely inspecting the facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
  • Routinely monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on the correct behaviors when observed
  • Developing environmental health and safety training materials to include manuals, brochures, PowerPoint presentations etc.
  • Developing a paperwork management system to track training records to track all safety training initiatives conducted personally or by outside consultants/vendors.
  • Interpreting safety regulations for the project.
  • Coordinating and presenting safety training to support client requirements including new hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout and repertory.
  • Interfacing with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) (Provincial or federal) officials/inspectors in the event or a site visit.


Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial or equivalent degree/work experience
  • Strong work ethic; good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to act independently with little or no supervision and work collaboratively on a team environment
  • Ability to operate a standard laptop computer as well as knowledge of and experience with standard office computer software.
  • Ability to carry out duties in varying work environments including wide ranging weather conditions and terrain.
  • Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements is preferred
  • Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is also desired #LI-AK1

  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
