Responsibilities

  • Advises field staff on safety policies and regulations.
  • Leads safety orientation sessions for new hires.
  • Monitors and enforces safe housekeeping practices on site.
  • Acts as safety liaison between owner and subcontractors.

Job Title - Site Safety & Health Officer

Location - El Paso, TX

What You Will Do
  • Plans, implements and supervises project safety and ensures that accident and fire protection programs are in compliance with the Caddell Corporate Safety Program on the assigned project.
  • Consults with Corporate Safety Manager to develop safe work plans for all project phases and crew tasks.
  • Conducts thorough daily safety inspections of all active work areas and documents these inspections.
  • Consults with field staff on safety issues, policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Conducts initial safety new hire orientation sessions.
  • Monitors housekeeping practices to ensure clean and safe environment.
  • Serves as construction safety liaison with owner and subcontractors.
  • Prepares and submits all required safety-related reports.
  • Conducts post-accident and property damage investigations.
  • Performs additional assignments per Corporate Safety Manager's direction.
  • Working Conditions- Construction setting, travel required, full time. Must have the ability to crawl, climb, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, crouch, stand for longs periods of time, lift and hold in excess of 50lbs, talk, hear and occasionally sit. Must have the ability to withstand confined spaces and or/extreme heights while negotiating tasks at hand in a safe manner to themselves and/or others. Subject to hot, cold, humid and wet conditions depending on location.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Effective written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Must have a working knowledge of Caddell's Corporate Safety Program. Working knowledge of applicable OSHA or Corps of Engineers EM385-1-1. Ability to use Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as web-based tools (i.e, ProCore).

Education / Experience - Minimum high school diploma/GED and 10 years' experience in safety management work of a progressive nature with at least 5 years' of experience on similar projects. An average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years with training for competent person status for at least the following five areas of competency: Excavation; Scaffolding; Fall protection; Hazardous energy; and Confined space.

Certifications, Licenses, etc.: - Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). OSHA 30-hour, USACE's 24-Hour EM 385-1-1 training within the last 5 years. Experience working on at least two heavy civil design build projects with a construction value of $10 million+ per project. First Aid/CPR, Competent Persons Training
