This position is responsible for leading all aspects of workplace safety, developing and implementing safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a culture where safety is a top priority.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards, with the ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate workplace hazards. Working closely with plant leadership and employees, the Safety Manager will drive continuous improvement in safety performance through training, audits, incident investigations, and proactive risk management initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Safety Manager
• Designs and implements safety programs for designated company or workspace.
• Stays up to date on state and federal workplace safety regulations.
• Runs informational meetings for employees regarding proper health and safety habits and procedures at work.
• Identifies health and safety hazards.
• Recommends ways to improve health and safety in the workplace.
• Writes up reports detailing health and safety issues.
• Presents reports and suggestions for improvement to company CEO or general manager.
• Fields inquiries from employees about proper safety procedures.
• Responds to on-site emergencies and accidents.
• Investigates on-the-job accidents and writes up reports.
• Identifies hazards or faults that caused the accident and devises strategic plan to remedy those problems.
• Monitors work place on a daily basis to ensure all activity meets safety compliance.
• Conducts official audits of the lab, factory, or office.
• Recruits, hires, and trains new safety officials to assist in audits and other oversight.

Education and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management, or related field is required.
• Certificate in Safety Management (CSM) is required.
• Coursework and training in occupational safety requirements and OHSA guidelines is required.
Work Environment
• The work environment will vary from an office setting to a research laboratory to a factory warehouse, depending on the position.
• Hazardous materials may be present in the work place, so managers will need to exercise caution at all times.
• Some accidents may cause high-stress situations.
• Shifts are eight hours, but may vary from night to day depending on the needs of the company.
• May need to respond immediately in off-hours to emergencies.
