Overview

We’re looking for a Safety Engineer who’s ready to lead from the field, support our project teams, and help strengthen our safety-first culture. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, communicates effectively, and wants to make a real impact on project success and team well-being. The Safety Engineer reports to the Safety Manager.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Support jobsite safety programs, helping project teams implement tailored safety plans from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Facilitate safety planning meetings, including pre-job and pre-task safety reviews to ensure risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Coach teams on safe work practices, providing guidance and real-time feedback in the field.
  • Conduct regular site audits, identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, helping determine root causes and implement lasting solutions.
  • Act as a liaison between field employees, management, and outside parties (medical, insurance, regulatory).
  • Stay connected to the industry, representing Danis in local safety associations and professional groups.
  • Identify and deliver safety training, based on site conditions and observed trends.
  • Contribute to corporate safety initiatives, including presenting in internal training sessions and supporting monthly planning meetings.
  • Problem-solve in the field, offering practical, technical safety solutions where they’re needed most.
Qualifications

What You Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a dedicated safety role within the construction industry
  • Certifications: CHST, OHST, ASP, CSP, or OSHA 500 (preferred but not required)
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction operations, OSHA standards, and best practices
  • Skills: Excellent communication, coaching, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities

Working Conditions

  • Field-first role: Majority of your time will be spent on active construction sites
  • Exposure to elements: Must be comfortable working in varying weather and environmental conditions
  • Travel: Primarily local travel with occasional overnight stays as needed
