Registered Nurse (RN) - Day and Night Shift

Location: Morganton, North Carolina

Schedule: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Variable Days

Employment Type: Full-Time

*16-week contract position; Contract renewal upon successful completion of the contract.

Setting: Inpatient Mental Health

Compensation: $50.00-$52.00 an hour | Full Benefits Available

Role Summary

We are seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to provide high-quality psychiatric care in a supportive and structured inpatient environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments of patients upon admission and throughout their stay, including physical health, mental status, and risk factors. Use standardized tools and clinical judgment to evaluate patients' psychiatric conditions.
  • Medication Management: Administer psychiatric medications as prescribed by physicians and monitor patients for side effects, effectiveness, and adherence to treatment plans. Educate patients and their families about medications and potential effects.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Implement therapeutic interventions, such as individual counseling, group therapy, and crisis intervention techniques, to help patients manage symptoms, develop coping skills, and achieve treatment goals.
  • Care Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to develop individualized care plans for patients. Coordinate care across different departments and services to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Patient Education: Provide psychoeducation to patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and community resources. Empower patients to participate in their own care and make informed decisions about their treatment.
  • Safety Management: Monitor patients for signs of self-harm, aggression, or other safety concerns. Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a secure environment for patients and staff members.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including assessments, care plans, progress notes, and incident reports. Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements for documentation and reporting of psychiatric care.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond promptly and effectively to psychiatric emergencies, such as suicidal ideation, aggressive behavior, or medication reactions. Follow established protocols for crisis management and de-escalation techniques.
