About Critical Care / ICUThe Registered Nurse in Critical Care provides comprehensive, compassionate nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and advanced clinical intervention.
The ICU RN utilizes nursing theory, clinical expertise, critical-thinking skills, and effective communication to assess patient needs, develop and implement individualized plans of care, evaluate patient responses, and collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Working in the ICU provides an opportunity to develop advanced nursing skills while caring for patients with complex and potentially life-threatening medical conditions.
As a Critical Care RN, you will develop expertise in:
- Comprehensive patient assessment and ongoing clinical monitoring
- Recognizing changes in patient condition and responding appropriately
- Management of complex medical conditions
- Medication administration and infusion management
- Collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams
- Patient and family education and support
- Evidence-based nursing practice
- Clinical decision-making and prioritization
- Providing compassionate care to patients and their families during critical illness
Our Critical Care Residency is designed to provide new graduate nurses with the education, clinical experience, and support needed to build a strong foundation in intensive care nursing.
RN Qualifications- Graduate of an approved school of Registered Professional Nursing
- Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required
- RN license must be active at least two weeks prior to the residency start date
- BSN preferred
- New graduate RNs are encouraged to apply
- Strong interest in Critical Care/ICU nursing
- Prior LPN experience may be considered when determining starting rate
