DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be competent and knowledgeable in the needs and concerns of individuals in specific age groups. Must demonstrate competence in the assessment, treatment, and/or provision of care to adult and geriatric patients.
Conducts teaching programs for personnel, patients and nursing orientees. Participates in in-service education for Nursing Service personnel.
Supervises staff nurses and techs within the department and assists the Director in the orientation of new staff members.
Recognizes indications and contraindications for the administration of drugs.
Maintains and documents maintenance records for equipment including electrical checks. Monitors supply orders and maintains medical/surgical supplies and drugs for the department. Reviews quality and appropriateness of care on a routine basis.
Assists the SLA or Director with fiscal control, budget preparation, and long and short term departmental planning.
Responsible for proper scheduling of employees and maintains the time and attendance records. Provides input and feedback for hiring decisions, discipline, termination and evaluations.
Takes call as assigned.
Assumes direct contact responsibilities for the Cardiovascular Services in the absence of the SLA or Director.
Monitors departmental infection control.
Attends and takes minutes in the departmental meetings. Attends in-services and other meetings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Preferred Registered Cardiovascular Specialist (Invasive or Non-invasive), or Registered Nurse with cardiovascular invasive and non-invasive experience.
