Full Job Description
Position Overview

The Manager, Risk Management leads the program-management risk and opportunity management framework for BWXT Enrichment Operations. This role establishes risk governance, ensures consistent identification and assessment of uncertainty, and provides leadership with clear, decision-oriented analysis. The Manager works across program management, engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, safety, finance, and security to integrate risk management directly into planning and execution. This role requires strong analytical capability, facilitation skill, executive communication, and the ability to challenge assumptions constructively in a regulated nuclear environment.

Your Day to Day as Manager, Risk Management
  • Own and maintain the EO risk-management framework, including methods, standards, templates, review cadences, scoring, and escalation thresholds.
  • Lead portfolio-level risk identification, aggregation, and analysis; ensure systemic, correlated, or cross-project risks are surfaced early.
  • Facilitate risk reviews, assumption reviews, supplier-risk assessments, and readiness-risk sessions for complex or high-consequence initiatives.
  • Ensure risks are well-defined with clear causes, probability, impact, triggers, owners, and actionable mitigations.
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative risk analysis (cost, schedule, Monte Carlo, scenario modeling) when uncertainty materially affects decisions.
  • Ensure mitigation plans have clear actions, owners, dates, and are integrated into schedules, budgets, procurement plans, readiness plans, and resource plans.
  • Partner with Project Controls and Finance to integrate risk exposure into forecasts, contingency, reserves, and management reporting.
  • Provide clear, decision-focused risk reporting including trends, major drivers, mitigation status, exposure summaries, and required leadership actions.
  • Conduct deep dives when exposure is unclear, mitigation is ineffective, or forecasts conflict with risk signals.
  • Lead opportunity-management processes that identify ways to improve cost, schedule, safety, reliability, or long-term business value.
  • Ensure risk-management practices align with safety, security, quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Coach Program and Project Managers in risk identification, analysis, mitigation, escalation, and risk-informed decision-making.
  • Maintain risk-management tools, dashboards, and data quality; promote consistent risk definitions and information structures across EO.
  • Support the Director, Program Management with independent risk assessments, readiness reviews, major decisions, recoveries, and portfolio exposure analysis.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Project/Program Management, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of related experience is required.
  • Significant experience in project/program management, project controls, risk management, engineering, operations, or finance.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing or leading structured risk-management processes for complex technical programs or projects.
  • Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative risk-analysis methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate risk with scope, schedule, cost, forecasting, technical planning, and executive reporting.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and executive-presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical capability and judgment; able to challenge assumptions constructively.
  • Ability to lead and influence across a matrixed organization.
  • Must meet BWXT employment, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business, Program/Project Management, Finance, Operations Research, Statistics, or related field.
  • PMP, PMI-RMP, AACE certification, or equivalent.
  • Experience in nuclear, DOE, enrichment, defense, chemical processing, or other high-consequence regulated industries.
  • Experience with Monte Carlo, cost/schedule risk analysis, sensitivity analysis, or probabilistic forecasting.
  • Experience managing or developing risk analysts, project-controls staff, or project managers.
  • Experience leading risk reviews for capital projects, construction, facility mods, commissioning, or major operational transitions.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Flexible schedules and paid time off (as applicable).
  • Professional development and continuing education opportunities.
  • A mission-driven culture focused on safety, accountability, and nuclear excellence.
