Risk Controls Manager

Meet the Team
Millennium's Global Risk Management Department identifies, measures, monitors, manages and reports on risks across the firm's portfolios, with a focus on market, credit and liquidity risk.

The Externals Risk Controls team oversees onboarding, pre-trade and post-trade controls for external managers across the firm. Partnering closely with Risk Management, Compliance, Operations, Trading Services, Execution and Business Management, the team develops and maintains standards, policies and procedures for external trading groups, supporting a safe, sound and controlled trading environment aligned with firm policies and applicable requirements.

What You'll Do
• Lead regional oversight of external manager risk controls, partnering with Execution teams and external trading groups to establish effective controls frameworks and address regional requirements.
• Serve as the regional subject-matter expert for external trading controls, including onboarding, pre-trade and post-trade risk management.
• Partner with external trading group control functions to establish trading limits, monitor adherence and manage exceptions.
• Coordinate controls reviews, limit assessments and implementation requirements for onboarding external Portfolio Managers and third-party trading tools.
• Promote clear, consistent application of the pre-trade and post-trade risk controls framework across regional external trading groups.
• Develop and maintain controls dashboards that monitor performance, identify emerging risks and highlight remediation needs.
• Review significant trading events, assess control implications and track delivery of agreed remediation plans.
• Contribute to the continued enhancement of firm-wide standards, policies, procedures and governance for external trading activities.

What You Bring
• 10-15 years of relevant experience in trading, risk or controls; experience supporting electronic trading is highly desirable.
• Strong product knowledge across one or more asset classes, including equities, futures, options or commodities.
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing or overseeing trading limits, control frameworks and exception-management processes.
• Strong project-management skills, with the ability to balance immediate remediation priorities with medium-term control enhancements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build consensus and influence senior stakeholders across functions and regions.
• Sound judgment and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities and maintaining delivery focus.
• Knowledge of third-party execution platforms and trading tools is preferred.
• Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Tableau, SQL, VBA, Jira and/or Python is desirable.

Salary Range
Millennium offers a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and comprehensive benefits. The estimated base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $250,000, which is specific to New York City and may change in the future. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individual's experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.
