Full Job Description
Ledcor is looking for Journeyperson Rig Welders to join our team supporting major shutdowns and turnarounds across Alberta's industrial facilities.

If you thrive in fast-paced outage environments where every hour counts, this is your opportunity to be part of critical work that keeps plants running safely and efficiently. From isolations and tie-ins to complex maintenance scopes, you'll play a key role in getting units back online-on schedule and without compromise.

This is not routine construction work. It's high-intensity, short-duration execution where skilled tradespeople bring focus, precision, and teamwork to meet demanding turnaround timelines.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supply and operate a fully equipped welding rig, ensuring all equipment is maintained, inspected, and job-ready
  • Complete weld repairs, modifications, replacements, and new installations on piping, vessels, and industrial equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, P&IDs, welding procedures (WPS), and work packages to execute work safely and accurately
  • Support critical path activities while maintaining productivity in a fast-paced, schedule-driven shutdown environment
  • Work within strict permit, isolation, confined space, and LOTO requirements to ensure safe work execution
  • Perform fit-up verification, welding, gouging, grinding, and associated fabrication tasks as required
  • Maintain high-quality workmanship while working extended shifts and compressed outage schedules
  • Participate in FLHAs, toolbox meetings, safety programs, and site-specific orientation requirements
  • Collaborate effectively with supervision, inspectors, pipefitters, and other trades to meet shutdown milestones
  • Ensure all welding activities meet applicable client, regulatory, and quality assurance standards

Qualifications:

  • Registered Journeyperson Welder certification (Red Seal preferred)
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a reliable welding rig and required tooling
  • Proven experience as a Rig Welder in shutdowns, turnarounds, maintenance, or construction projects within oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, or heavy industrial environments
  • Current CWB, B-Pressure, or other applicable welding certifications considered a strong asset
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, weld procedures, and fabrication documents
  • Experience working on time-sensitive projects with changing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety practices, permits, hazard assessments, and LOTO procedures
  • Ability to work 10-12+ hour shifts, overtime, and consecutive days throughout the duration of a shutdown
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, reliability, and procedural compliance
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a large multi-trade workforce

Working Conditions:
  • Travel provided
  • Various shifts available
  • Work in all weather conditions
  • Weekly payment of wages
  • Extended health benefits provided by CLAC
  • Camp provided

Compensation & Schedule:
  • Base Wage: $126.65/hour (per existing CLAC agreement and applicable trade verification)
  • Overtime: 1.5x after 40 hours/week
  • Schedule: 24 days on / 4 days off or 6 days on / 1 day off
  • Hours: 12 hours/day
  • Camp accommodation provided
  • Flights from Edmonton or Calgary
  • CLAC Benefits & Pension
