Peraton is seeking a Spacecraft Communications RF Equipment Technician to join our team at the Fort Irwin Complex in California to support our Space Communications Network Services Contract (DSN) with NASA.
The Deep Space Network is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never before seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.
What You'll Do:
Responsibilities:
Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and contribute to continuous improvement processes.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues using advanced technical expertise, documentation, and schematics.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on RF and microwave equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Operate state-of-the-art test equipment and tools to support maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and foster a collaborative work environment.
Ensure that all work adheres to safety procedures and industry regulations, maintaining a productive and safe workplace.
Document all activities accurately and in compliance with regulatory and site-specific guidelines.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (0-2 years) or High School diploma (6-8 years) with related experience in RF or microwave systems.
Proven understanding of motors, pumps, and water-regulated systems.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in roles such as Electronics Technician, Electro-Mechanical Technician, Linux Computer Technician, PLC Controls, or IT Technician.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb antennas up to 250 feet for maintenance.
Strong commitment to safety protocols and hazard recognition.
Proficiency in following regulatory guidelines and documenting job activities accurately.
Desired Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Electronics or formal military electronics training.
4+ years of experience with high and low power transmitter/receiver systems, including microwave (uWave) systems.
Self-motivated with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, seeking assistance only for the most complex technical challenges.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Cross-training and professional development opportunities available.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence key initiatives.
Target Salary RangeThe rate / range per hour below represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range35.02-43.78
