What We're Looking For:
• Strong ability to accurately interpret and dispense prescriptions in a retail pharmacy setting
• Knowledge of drug therapy monitoring, interactions, and patient safety practices
• Ability to provide clear medication counseling and clinical guidance to patients and providers
• Experience supervising and supporting pharmacy technicians and support staff (preferred)
• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (required)
• Current Louisiana Pharmacist license (required)
• Prior retail or hospital pharmacy experience (preferred)
What You Will Do:
Fills orders for medications, monitors patient drug therapies, and provides drug information while supervising pharmacy support personnel. Care is delivered appropriately for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.
• Prepare and dispense medications according to physician orders, policies, and protocols
• Interpret and accurately enter verbal and written prescriptions into patient medication profiles
• Maintain complete, accurate medication profiles and records, including controlled substances documentation
• Monitor drug therapies for interactions, contraindications, allergies, and appropriate dosing
• Identify, document, and report adverse drug reactions in a timely manner
• Provide clinical consultation to practitioners and recommend cost-effective therapeutic alternatives when appropriate
• Document clinical interventions and participate in medication use reviews and quality improvement initiatives
• Supervise pharmacy technicians, verify daily work, and contribute to performance feedback
• Prioritize workflow to ensure timely pharmacy services with minimal supervision
• Conduct medication storage inspections and remove outdated or unusable drugs
• Provide professional customer service at the pharmacy window and via telephone
• Maintain pharmacist licensure and complete all required continuing education and competency assessments
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and stay current with pharmacy practice standards
