Please review the job details below.Intuitive Machines West is seeking a talented Responsible Engineer for the MAGE (Mechanical Aerospace Ground Equipment) Engineering group in Palo Alto, CA. In this challenging and exciting role, you will have the opportunity to interface with a wide range of aerospace disciplines to facilitate the design, fabrication, delivery and support of complex mechanical ground support equipment for use during the assembly, integration & test (AIT) of our satellite systems.
This role includes the following responsibilities:- Collaborate with customers, process owners and program teams to define the requirements for spacecraft assembly, integration and test equipment.
- Provide design requirements and guidance to mechanical design engineers to ensure that products meet requirements and customers' expectations.
- Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors including cost, quality, reliability, manufacturability, impact to schedule and process improvement.
- Product Life Cycle Management - release and maintain engineering drawings, support fabrication and delivery of mechanical assemblies/systems and provide real-time engineering support for production activities.
- Onsite support - Interface with customers, program teams, vehicle engineers and technicians to resolve production issues, develop and improve MAGE solutions, and facilitate AIT processes.
- Fabrication support - Interface with manufacturing teams, machine shops, and outside vendors to ensure production efforts meet engineering, cost and schedule requirements.
- Project Management - Maintain databases/tracking, conduct design reviews, create design revisions, manage schedules, report project status updates and oversee design engineers.
Minimum Requirements:- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- This is an on-site role with hybrid flexibility, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office. Due to the nature of our customers and product lines, candidates must also be able to report to the facility outside of our regular schedule in the case of a product emergency.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other related discipline.
- 5-8 years of work experience in mechanical design / design leadership or other related discipline.
- Strong understanding of mathematics, physics and statics as they relate to use of mechanical components, support structures and lifting/integration systems.
Preferred Requirements:- 8-10 years of work experience in mechanical design / design leadership or other related discipline.
- Proficiency in the use of the following software:
- Computer aided design (CREO Parametric, SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software)
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Product Lifecycle Management (Teamcenter or other PLM software

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
• The base pay for this position within California is: $104,000.00 - $173,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
