Why is this Respiratory Therapist role differentThis role offers a dynamic mix of office and field work, supporting patients across Waukegan, Rockford, and occasionally Wisconsin. You will work with two small, stable, long-tenured teams while enjoying autonomy, variety, and patient connection.
Key highlights- Work Arrangement: 40% office, 60% road (home visits).
- Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
- Travel: Covers Waukegan; assists Rockford 1-2 days/week; may see Wisconsin patients.
Salary rangeOn-Call transparency- Shared on-call rotation with Chicago area; 1-2 weekdays/week and 1 weekend/month. Telehealth licensed; occasional in-person weekend visits.
What you'll do- Conduct home visits to perform oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, and ventilation equipment setups and follow-ups
- Educate patients and caregivers on equipment use, cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Assess patient needs, document care delivered, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Respond to hospital discharge requests and support patient needs
- Collaborating with physicians, case managers, and internal branch teams
- Maintain accurate documentation using iPad/laptop
- Set up and operate various types of respiratory care equipment, including, but not limited to, oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, PAP, invasive and non-invasive ventilation
- Inspects and tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition
- Perform clinical assessments and tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry and gathering vital signs
- Performs other duties as required
What we look for- Respiratory Therapist with an active IL RT license. Open to obtaining WI RT License.
- Ability to stand, lift, push and/or pull objects ranging from 10 - 50 lbs.
- Valid driver's license
- Comfortable using mobile technology, navigation tools, and digital documentation
Education- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
Certificates, licenses, registrations or professional designations- Hold a current RCP license in the state of practice (or states that the location covers) if that state requires an RCP license to allow the practice of respiratory therapy
- Hold a current CPR Certification
- Hold all applicable licensure in good standing for all states of practice
