The Estimator at Model Remodel is responsible for developing accurate, detailed cost estimates that reflect project scope, client goals, and company profitability targets. Estimates range from early conceptual and rough-order-of-magnitude pricing through fully developed construction estimates.
This role works closely with Sales Representatives, designers, and production staff to support informed decision-making, value engineering, and a smooth transition from preconstruction to construction. The Estimator plays a key role in setting projects up for success by balancing accuracy, clarity, and collaboration to support great outcomes for clients and the internal team.
Job Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience estimating residential remodeling projects, preferably in high-end or custom home renovation. Green/sustainable building experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
- Proven ability to prepare accurate estimates at multiple stages, from conceptual pricing through detailed construction budgets.
- Proficiency reviewing and interpreting architectural drawings, specifications, and site conditions.
- Demonstrated experience performing quantity takeoffs and evaluating subcontractor and vendor proposals for scope and accuracy.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 Suite is required. Experience with construction project management software such as Construction Online, Buildertrend, Procore, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Ability to support value engineering and clearly communicate cost impacts of design or scope changes.
- Highly organized with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
- Collaborative communicator who works effectively with Sales Representatives, designers, and production teams.
- Commitment to professionalism, accuracy, and continuous improvement of estimating practices.
