Full Job Description
In the role of Resident Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Manage a staff of construction professionals including Assistant Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, Field Inspectors, etc.
  • Manage one or a portfolio of projects at Transportation Facilities like Tunnels, Bridges, Terminals, Airports, Transit Systems, Ports, etc.
  • Run construction progress meetings and oversee project schedule, cost, QAQC inspections, testing, acceptance and turnover.
  • Process change orders/negotiate construction claims.
  • Coordinate with contractors to plan and execute construction in coordination with facility operations.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced field staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years' experience in construction, 3 + years as an Assistant Resident Engineer working on major transportation/infrastructure projects for public agencies, such as PANYNJ, MTA, NJ Transit, NJTA, NJDOT.
  • Excellent Organizational and communication skills required.
  • OSHA 30-hour training
  • PE license in New York or New Jersey
  • Preference given to local candidate

  • Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must be computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
