Full Job Description
JOB TITLE: Research SME - Quantum Information Science

LOCATION: Bethesda, Maryland

CLEARANCE: No clearance required to start but prefer TS/SCI with CI Poly.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attend meetings, workshops, conferences and testing events as a Subject Matter Expert.
• Assist with the development of presentations such as Program Management Reviews.
• Serve as a Liaison between Performers, Test & Evaluation contributors, Government and Transition partners.
• Review, provide analysis, and make recommendations concerning technical reports, data and Performer approaches.
• Select, establish, curate, and maintain collaborative communication, issue tracking, and configuration environments for use by the program.
• Provide reach-back support for program related requirements for systems integration, design, development, modeling and simulation, data analytics and architecture design.
• Examine data sources and literary sources for emerging technology related to the Program.
• Provide technical support and expertise on new concepts beyond the Program but integral to the Program's success.

REQUIRED EXPERTISE:
• Bachelors' degree in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field, with six plus (6+) years of work experience in one of these fields, or Masters' degree with two plus (2+) years of work experience.
• Four (4) years of experience or equivalent education involving quantum information science, quantum device physics, quantum sensing, quantum system modeling, and/or quantum control techniques.
• Two (2) years of experience or equivalent education with laboratory characterization or test platforms relevant to quantum systems, such as cryogenic test environments, optical/laser-based measurement systems, RF/microwave measurement tools, or qubit/device characterization setups.
• One (1) year of experience managing a multi-disciplinary research and development (R&D) or Test and Evaluation (T&E) team.
• Two (2) years of experience creating program plans, work breakdown structures, and milestone schedules.

DESIRED EXPERTISE:
• Masters' degree or PhD in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, quantum information science, or closely related fields, with four plus (4+) years of work experience.
• Four (4) years of experience with scientific and experimental programming languages/tools such as Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or languages used in quantum research (e.g., Qiskit, Cirq, or Q#).
• Two (2) years of experience with machine learning, optimization, signal processing, or statistical techniques relevant to quantum system characterization, noise mitigation, or control.
• Two (2) years of experience in the Intelligence Community (IC), including experience with requirements, CONOPS, and transition.
• Awareness of supply chain, security, and reliability considerations for quantum technologies and supporting hardware.
• Four (4) years of experience managing a multi-disciplinary research and development (R&D) or Test and Evaluation (T&E) team.
• One (1) year of experience as a Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager.
