This position is responsible for directing the activities of the Office of Research Compliance (ORC) including leading the management of the Research Compliance Program and Research compliance staff. Additionally, this position serves as Seattle Children's Research Institute's (SCRI) Research Integrity Officer (RIO). The RIO's role is to investigate and resolve allegations of scientific misconduct involving biomedical, behavioral or animal research.
Reporting to the Institute Official (IO), this individual is responsible for ensuring SCRI is compliant with federal research-related regulations and institutional policies. Identify, prioritize, investigate and resolve compliance issues. Responsible for conducting regular compliance auditing and monitoring activities focusing on topics outlined in the annual research compliance work plan. As required lead special compliance projects or investigations.
Works at a high level within the organization. Requires strict adherence to confidentiality and privacy practices. Has the authority to review all documents and other information that are relevant to research compliance activities. Design, implement, manage and evaluate Institute-wide systems and processes that promote ethical conduct and deter, detect and mitigate unlawful or unethical conduct. Develop educational programs that support SCRI faculty and staff around adherence to new and existing compliance-related initiatives and requirements.
Required Education and Experience
Master's degree (or equivalent advanced degree in Health Sciences discipline, Business Admin, or related field.
10 years supervisory experience or equivalent leadership role as determined by Seattle Children's.
At least five (5) years demonstrated program development/project management using proven lean methodologies.
Seven years of experience in a research/healthcare setting preferably compliance related.
Experience with auditing processes and compliance related investigations.
Successful senior-level leadership experience, including experience with employee development, mentoring and coaching.
Required Credentials
Certification in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC) or equivalent within 12 months of hire date.
Preferred
Familiarity with finance and reimbursement aspects of research and clinical practice.
Experience with grant and manuscript writing processes.
Prior experience with and knowledge of ethical principles, federal regulations, and state law as it pertains to the ethical conduct of human subjects research and pediatric research.
Demonstrated understanding of Seattle Children's clinical and research operations, policies and practices.
Compensation Range
$161,230.00 - $241,844.00 per year
Salary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
