Position Overview
The Reimbursement, Health Economics & Market Access (RHEMA) team helps medical technology innovators generate the evidence necessary to demonstrate value, support reimbursement, and improve patient access. Working with clients ranging from startups to global MedTech companies, the team develops strategies that connect clinical evidence, health economics, payer expectations, and real-world market adoption.
This Research Associate role will primarily support evidence generation and health economics engagements. The individual will work alongside experts in health economics, outcomes research, reimbursement, and market access to help evaluate the clinical, economic, and system-level value of medical technologies. Projects may include literature reviews, evidence-gap assessments, health economic analyses, value demonstration strategies, real-world evidence planning, and development of materials that support payer, provider, and stakeholder decision-making. This position is ideal for candidates with interests in health economics, public health, epidemiology, outcomes research, data analysis, healthcare modeling, or evidence development within the life sciences industry.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct research on Medicare, Medicaid, and private-payer coverage, coding, and payment policies and amounts.
· Perform targeted and systematic literature searches, evidence landscape reviews, and evidence-gap assessments.
· Support market opportunity assessments by evaluating clinical, economic, reimbursement, and stakeholder adoption drivers.
· Identify and assess relevant datasets and real-world evidence sources for client research questions.
· Assist with health economics and outcomes research, burden-of-illness analyses, and basic cost, budget-impact, or value analyses under the guidance of a project lead.
· Support publication planning, evidence-generation plans, value tools, payer materials, and other stakeholder-facing assets.
· Compile and analyze information from online sources, published literature, databases, and telephone interviews with payers, providers, and other stakeholders.
· Prepare concise, accurate deliverables in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel that summarize methods, findings, implications, and recommendations.
· Present research findings to internal teams and, as appropriate, clients; incorporate feedback efficiently and accurately.
· Track assigned work against project scope, budget, and timeline requirements and communicate emerging issues promptly.
· Collaborate across reimbursement, evidence development, market access, regulatory, and clinical teams.
· Contribute to internal knowledge development, service-line improvement, and evaluation of new business opportunities.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in health economics, public health, health policy, epidemiology, economics, statistics, life sciences, or a related discipline. Relevant graduate coursework or an advanced degree is preferred but not required.
· Strong research, analytical, quantitative, writing, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex scientific, policy, and business information.
· Familiarity with evidence-generation concepts, including literature review, real-world evidence, health economics, patient-reported outcomes, and publication research.
· Ability to organize multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and produce accurate work with appropriate supervision.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills and professionalism in client and stakeholder interactions.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
· Prior internship, academic, consulting, CRO, health plan, industry, or research experience in healthcare or medical technology.
· Exposure to Medicare or commercial-payer policy, medical terminology, or medical-device reimbursement.
· Experience with structured literature review methods, data extraction, statistical analysis, or R, Stata, SAS, Python, or similar tools.
· Intellectual curiosity, resourcefulness, attention to detail, and a willingness to develop expertise across coverage, coding, payment, evidence, and market access.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $58,700.00 - $146,800.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
