Full Job Description
The Senior Reports Developer & Telerik Administrator will take full ownership of our enterprise reporting infrastructure and development lifecycle. This role designs, builds, and optimizes complex business reports using Telerik Reporting tools while also serving as the primary administrator for the Telerik Report Server platform, including the Windows Server, IIS, and AWS infrastructure that hosts it. The ideal candidate combines strong Microsoft SQL Server and Telerik report development skills with hands-on Windows Server administration, including IIS maintenance and troubleshooting, PowerShell-based automation, and AWS cloud infrastructure management, to deliver a reliable and secure enterprise reporting platform.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy complex, interactive, and user-friendly enterprise reports using Telerik Report Designer.
  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL) queries, stored procedures, views, and data models to support reporting requirements.
  • Integrate reports into existing application frameworks (e.g., .NET web applications, API integrations, and scheduled distribution pipelines).
  • Translate business requirements into actionable data visualizations, dashboards, and automated report schedules.
  • Serve as the primary Administrator for all company Telerik Report Servers, including installation, configuration, and upgrades.
  • Perform routine maintenance, software upgrades, version migrations, and security patching for Telerik Report Server environments.
  • Manage user access, role-based permissions, scheduled tasks, data source connections, and report distribution lists.
  • Monitor server performance, troubleshoot rendering issues, and optimize report execution times.
  • Administer Windows Server environments hosting the Telerik Report Server, including OS patching, service management, and performance tuning.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot IIS (Internet Information Services), including application pools, site bindings, SSL certificates, and site recycling, to keep the Telerik Report Server available and performant.
  • Monitor Windows Event Logs and Performance Monitor to proactively identify and resolve IIS and application pool issues.
  • Write and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate Windows Server and IIS administration, patch management, and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Provision, configure, and maintain Telerik Report Server instances within Amazon Web Services (AWS), including EC2, EBS volumes and snapshots, RDS, VPC security groups, ELB, CloudWatch, IAM, and S3.
  • Implement automated backup, disaster recovery (including AWS Backup and EBS snapshots), and failover strategies for Telerik databases and application servers.
  • Establish system monitoring, alert mechanisms, and log management for high availability and quick issue resolution.
  • Partner with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to align report server environments with corporate security and networking standards.
  • Leverage Anthropic Claude or similar LLM tools to accelerate code generation, query optimization, automated documentation, and report template development.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a reporting, database, or systems administration role, including senior-level responsibilities.
  • Certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator) preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator or similar Windows Server certification preferred.
  • Training in PowerShell scripting and IIS administration is a plus.

Required Skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL), including writing and optimizing complex queries, stored procedures, views, and data models.
  • Hands-on Windows Server administration experience, with particular emphasis on IIS configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including application pools, bindings, SSL, and site recycling.
  • Proficiency writing PowerShell scripts for Windows Server and IIS automation, patch management, and administrative tasks.
  • 5+ years of dedicated experience with Telerik Reporting and Telerik Report Server administration.
  • Working knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, EBS, VPC, ELB, Auto Scaling Groups, and AWS Backup) supporting Windows-hosted application servers.
  • Fundamental understanding of TCP/IP networking, including subnets, DNS, routing, and firewall rules as they relate to report server connectivity.
  • Experience with AWS CLI or similar tooling for cloud administrative automation.
  • Hands-on experience utilizing Anthropic Claude or similar LLM tools for SQL generation, code debugging, and administrative script creation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across report rendering, IIS/Windows Server, and infrastructure/network layers.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate directly with product managers, developers, and executive stakeholders.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Current with industry trends in reporting platforms, Windows Server administration, and AWS best practices.
  • Time and project management skills, with the capability to prioritize and multitask as needed.
