Reporting Analyst 2 to support Southern Company operations in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Reporting Analyst 2 will be responsible for analyzing business processes, collecting and validating data, developing reports and dashboards, investigating reporting and data discrepancies, and providing actionable insights that support operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
This position requires a professional with approximately
5-10 years of experience in reporting, business analysis, data analytics, process improvement, business intelligence, or a related discipline.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with business stakeholders, process owners, subject-matter experts, reporting teams, and technical teams to gather requirements, analyze complex datasets, develop meaningful performance metrics, identify process inefficiencies, investigate reporting issues, and communicate findings to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience with
Power BI, SQL, Microsoft Excel, data visualization, reporting dashboards, data validation, and business-process analysis. Experience with
Databricks or a comparable cloud data and analytics platform is highly valuable.
RequirementsKey ResponsibilitiesData Analysis & Business Insights- Collect, analyze, interpret, and validate data associated with business processes and operational performance.

- Support Power BI reports, dashboards, paginated reports, parameters, refreshes, subscriptions, and report validation.

- Assist with production validation following report changes, fixes, reruns, or deployments.
Power BI & Business Intelligence- Utilize Microsoft Power BI to analyze, visualize, and communicate business information.
- Support existing Power BI reporting solutions and dashboards.
- Investigate report questions, data discrepancies, refresh issues, and access concerns.
- Validate Power BI report behavior against expected business results.
- Assist users in understanding report calculations, definitions, filters, refresh timing, and known limitations.

SQL & Data Investigation- Write and interpret SQL queries for data analysis, investigation, reconciliation, and validation.

- Investigate anomalies and support root-cause analysis.

Databricks & Data Platform Support- Utilize Databricks or comparable cloud data and analytics platforms to support reporting investigations.
- Navigate data environments to identify relevant tables, views, and reporting data.
- Use SQL-based analysis to investigate data anomalies and discrepancies.
- Trace information from source systems through data-processing and reporting layers.
- Review data transformations, joins, filters, aggregations, and source-to-target results.
- Recognize potential data-quality, processing, transformation, or reporting issues.
- Partner with Data Engineering and reporting-development teams when deeper technical investigation is required.
- Support testing, release validation, and post-deployment monitoring.
Business Process Analysis- Collaborate with process owners and subject-matter experts to understand and document current business processes.
- Develop or support process maps and related documentation.
- Identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, control gaps, and improvement opportunities.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in business analysis, reporting, process improvement, data analysis, business intelligence, analytics, or a related role.
- Strong experience collecting, analyzing, validating, and interpreting business data.
- Experience developing reports, dashboards, KPIs, and performance metrics.
