Renewables Project Manager
Department: Operations
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: United States
Reporting To: Colin Mattox
Description
We are looking for a qualified Renewables Project Manager (EV Charging, Batteries, Solar).
The Renewables Project Manager is responsible for the day-to-day coordination, tracking, communication, and successful delivery of renewable infrastructure projects, primarily electric vehicle charging projects (L2 and DCFC), with expanding work in battery energy storage and solar PV.
This role serves as the central point of coordination between field construction teams, customers, subcontractors, internal operations, engineering, procurement, utilities, and other project stakeholders. The Project Manager is expected to maintain a detailed and current understanding of the status of every assigned project, proactively identify risks and roadblocks, drive issues to resolution, and ensure that customers and internal leadership receive accurate and timely project updates.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain daily communication with active construction sites to understand current project status, work completed, upcoming activities, schedule impacts, material needs, risks, and open issues.
Ensure all project information is accurately and consistently captured in company reporting systems, including daily progress, milestones, schedules, photos, blockers, action items, and completion forecasts.
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project execution, providing clear, accurate, and proactive status updates and ensuring customer questions and concerns are addressed promptly.
Communicate project status internally across construction, operations, engineering, procurement, finance, permitting, and leadership teams.
Maintain detailed project schedules and milestone tracking, identifying potential delays early and developing recovery plans with field and operational teams.
Proactively identify project risks, dependencies, and roadblocks and drive problems to resolution before they impact schedule, cost, or customer satisfaction.
Track open action items, assign ownership, establish deadlines, and follow through until issues are fully resolved.
Coordinate with Construction Managers, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure project priorities, schedules, and customer commitments are understood and aligned.
Coordinate project requirements related to permitting, inspections, utility work, energization, outages, equipment delivery, commissioning, and customer turnover.
Monitor procurement and material status to identify potential impacts to construction schedules and escalate issues as necessary.
Manage project scope, budgets, forecasts, change orders, purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, and other commercial requirements.
Ensure customer-requested changes and field conditions are properly documented, priced, approved, and communicated.
Lead recurring internal and customer project meetings and provide concise reporting on progress, schedule, risks, decisions, and next steps.
Coordinate project closeout to ensure punch-list items, documentation, commissioning requirements, customer acceptance, and billing milestones are completed promptly.
Help continuously improve project management processes, reporting standards, dashboards, and communication practices as the renewables business grows.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
3-5+ years of project management experience in construction, infrastructure, electrical contracting, renewable energy, or a related field.
Experience with EV charging infrastructure strongly preferred, including L2 and DC fast-charging projects.
Working knowledge of electrical and civil construction activities, utility coordination, permitting, inspections, commissioning, and construction sequencing.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active projects simultaneously while maintaining accurate knowledge of project status, priorities, and risks.
Exceptional organizational and follow-through skills, with the ability to maintain detailed project records and ensure commitments are completed.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in communicating project status to customers and senior leadership.
Ability to identify problems quickly, determine appropriate ownership, and drive issues to resolution.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where schedules, priorities, and field conditions may change rapidly.
Experience with project schedules, budgets, forecasts, change orders, subcontractor management, and project reporting tools.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project management/reporting platforms.
High level of accountability and a proactive approach to project management - this role requires someone who actively seeks out information rather than waiting for updates.
