Key ResponsibilitiesBiology Problem Development- Design challenging problems across advanced biology domains
- Create tasks that probe limitations in scientific reasoning
- Develop questions requiring conceptual abstraction and multi-step analysis
- Incorporate data interpretation and biological problem-solving where appropriate
- Maintain suitable difficulty across undergraduate through PhD-level topics
Scientific Reasoning & Solution Development- Solve complex biology problems accurately and efficiently
- Produce clear and rigorous step-by-step solutions
- Explain assumptions and intermediate reasoning explicitly
- Apply structured scientific reasoning to challenging biological questions
- Present conclusions in a format suitable for evaluation and review
Model Evaluation & Error Analysis- Evaluate how language models perform on biology-focused tasks
- Identify recurring weaknesses in conceptual understanding
- Analyse errors involving abstraction, multi-step reasoning, and data interpretation
- Distinguish factual mistakes from reasoning or interpretation failures
- Provide structured observations to support model improvement
Benchmark & Evaluation Design- Contribute to new biology evaluation benchmarks
- Align problem design with specific research objectives
- Develop tasks spanning different levels of scientific complexity
- Refine evaluation criteria based on observed model behaviour
- Support consistent assessment across advanced biology domains
Research Collaboration & Technical Communication- Collaborate remotely with researchers and technical contributors
- Explain complex biological concepts in clear and accessible language
- Provide constructive feedback and detailed annotations
- Communicate analytical findings in a structured format
- Work independently while maintaining reliable project delivery
Ideal Profile- Currently pursuing or holding a Master's, Ph.D., or postdoctoral position in Biology or a related field
- Relevant backgrounds may include Biotechnology or Biochemistry
- Expertise may include molecular and cellular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, physiology, neuroscience, developmental biology, evolutionary biology, environmental biology, or plant biology
- Strong analytical and research capabilities
- Ability to solve complex biological problems using a structured approach
- Strong foundation in advanced biological concepts
- Ability to break difficult concepts into clear explanations
- Comfortable with conceptual abstraction and multi-step reasoning
