Full Job Description
As a Reliability Engineer, you will:
• Drive Mission Success: Support multiple space programs by providing reliability-centric recommendations and analysis within a highly collaborative specialty engineering team.
• Shape System Architecture: Perform technical trade studies and evaluations of potential system architectures during early program development.
• Model Complex Systems: Develop, coordinate, and execute reliability modeling, simulations, and predictions as part of the central reliability team.
• Influence Hardware Design: Recommend advanced design variations, test methods (such as HALT/HASS), and statistical process control procedures to maximize product lifespan.
• Evaluate Program Technicalities: Assess both internal and external designs to ensure overall compliance with mission requirements and government agency objectives.
• Transform Raw Data: Compile and analyze performance reports, process control statistics, and flight/test variables affecting products.
• Architect Predictive Risk Models: Develop mathematical and statistical models to isolate hardware units, batches, or software processes posing excessive failure risks.

Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe) constructs. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives. May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks. As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability. May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.

Basic Qualifications

Experience with space, missile, or related systems

Understanding or experience with systems engineering concepts

Understanding of one or more of the following: Mathematical modeling, Statistical analysis, Electrical circuit design, Environmental effects on performance

Willingness/ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret security clearance; US Citizenship Required

Desired Skills

Graduate level coursework related to Mathematics, Operations Research, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering or Physics

Proficiency in mathematical modeling, statistical analysis, electrical circuit design, and environmental effects on performance

Missile or space system design and test experience with subsystems or fields outside of Systems Engineering

Excellent written and verbal communications skills, strong social skills, and ability to build solid relationships with team members

Familiarity with applicable handbooks and standards like MIL-HDBK-217, Milt-STD-1629, MIL-STD-1543, MILHDBK-338, MIL-HDBK-472, etc.

Familiarity with application of probability and statistics to support decisions regarding sample size, burn-in life testing and failure analysis investigations

Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Active or Current security clearance (TS/SCI or higher)

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
