Job Description - Relationship Manager

Position Summary

The Relationship Manager accelerates growth across a Managing Director's client portfolio through proactive relationship management, disciplined sales execution, and scalable expansion strategies. Serving as the primary relationship lead for assigned clients, the role is accountable for driving repeat business, referrals, and production growth that contributes directly to the Managing Director's booked volume.

At the AVP level, the Relationship Manager is responsible for executing the sales motion across assigned relationships, contributing to production and growth outcomes, and developing the judgment and consistency required to manage increasing responsibility within a defined portfolio.

Acting as an extension of the Managing Director, the Relationship Manager leads client conversations, manages inbound referrals, and partners closely to deepen relationships and expand revenue across the portfolio. The Relationship Manager's primary focus remains on client relationships, business growth, wallet share expansion, and market presence, while engaging with the Production Partner to ensure disciplined, predictable, and high-quality execution. This is a revenue bearing sales role. Performance is measured primarily on production, portfolio growth, repeat and referral business, and contribution to booked volume, in partnership with and under the umbrella of a Managing Director.

• Effectiveness in converting inbound opportunities into closed transactions.
• Development of a repeatable approach to generating repeat and referral business.

Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Acquisition
• Support growth of the existing book of business by taking inbound referrals, booking meetings, and either running artifact meetings or bringing in your Managing Director to win new clients.
• Carry defined production and growth expectations by driving existing book of business, including repeat business, referrals, and increased wallet share among under-utilized customers.
• Build meaningful circles of success and referral partner relationships, developing a durable local network that supports repeat business and customer growth.
• Start to build and run a repeatable 'cookbook' that drives repeat and referral business.
• Document each new customer's story, business plan, and take a full loan application.
• Gain visibility in the real estate investor community through speaking engagements, round-table discussions, and attending or hosting/sponsoring local events.
• Support your Managing Director in winning new relationships.

Relationship Building & Collaboration
• Serve as the primary relationship lead for assigned clients, ensuring a high touch and differentiated experience and lead sales conversations with clients.
• Support the creation and execution of business plans and circle of success network for each client in your portfolio with measurable and attainable goals for each client.
• Support outreach to existing customers to identify and grow repeat business and assist in expanding the circle of success and referral base.

Process & Execution
• Lead through example internally, building strong partnerships with POD and Production Partners to deliver excellent customer service and a consistently high-touch client experience.
• Partner with Production Partners to ensure high quality loan originations.

Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
• Support customer retention and strong loan performance.
• Partner with your Managing Director and POD to drive production and maintain 90+ NPS scores.
• Become a trusted advisor to your clients and team.

• 3+ years' experience in real estate / mortgage lending and production.
• Strong business sense and Lending industry expertise.

• Composure and ability to thrive under pressure with strong problem solving & critical thinking skills.

• Strong technical skills, familiarity with Salesforce and Hubspot a plus.
