Full Job Description
PACU Registered Nurse

As a PACU Registered Nurse with OrthoArizona, you will get to:
  • Monitor post-operative patients' levels of consciousness during recovery from anesthesia.
  • Measure and record patients' vital signs.
  • Closely observe patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication.
  • Treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
  • Update charts, patient files, and medical records.
  • Collaborate with the medical team on post-operative patient care and facilitating timely specialized interventions.
  • Provide comfort and reassurance to distressed post-operative patients and concerned family members.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-surgery care, as well as answering questions.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Is punctual for all shifts and obtains authorization for overtime or schedule changes from Supervisor.
  • Observe policies regarding breaks, meals, time off, and calling in sick.
  • Prioritize work activities based on clinical demands
  • Demonstrate behavior that protects the safety of self/others and of the facility and equipment.
  • Keep work area clean and unobstructed.
  • Provide monitoring of patient progress between Physician or PA visits.
  • Participate in Professional Development activities and maintain professional affiliations/certifications.


Qualifications:
  • Graduation from accredited school of nursing
  • Valid Arizona State License
  • Maintain CPR certification
  • Working knowledge of computer programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of orthopedic examination, diagnostic, and medical procedures
  • Knowledge of medication
  • Complete and maintain HCP training
  • Understand/Perform training on practice management software
  • Continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures

Minimum Qualifications:
  • RN License

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-year experience in a healthcare setting
