Associate's degree in nursing required; Bachelor's preferred
Active RN California License
Current AHA BLS/ACLS Certification
Minimum two years' experience in an operating room or outpatient surgery center
Orthopedic experience preferred
ASC experience preferred
Strong communication skills in American English
Electronic Medical Record experience; EPIC preferred
Responsibilities
Perform circulating nurse duties following operating room procedures
Prepare the operating room for scheduled procedures
Assemble and provide functioning equipment and supplies before procedures
Anticipate needs of the surgical team and assist anesthesia personnel
Review patients' medical records to plan care with healthcare team
Assist with safe patient positioning and prepare operative site

Job Duties
Performs the circulating nurse's role and functions following approved operating room procedures to meet the requirements of scheduled procedures
Prepare the operating room according to requirements of patient/procedure to be performed
Assembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure
Anticipates needs of surgical team and assists anesthesia personnel by supporting patient during administration of anesthesia
Reviews patients' medical records/needs to plan care with other healthcare team members
Assists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient and prepares operative site as directed by established procedures
Monitors compliance with principles of aseptic technique according to accepted standards
Required Education and License/Certification
Associates level degree from an accredited school of nursing required; Bachelor's level preferred
Active RN California License
Current AHA BLS/ ACLS Certification
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum two (2) years' experience in the operating room at an acute care facility required or two (2) years of recent experience is a fast-paced Outpatient Surgery Center setting (in the last five years); Orthopedic experience preferred.
ASC experience preferred
Strong ethical and moral character references
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and with their office personnel, coworkers, and other healthcare facilities in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, and general public
Ability to make decisions and solve problems
Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
