Registered Nurse

Location: West Hempstead, NY | Schedule: FT 35 hours a week | Status: Exempt | Salary Range: $90,000-$92,000

The Opportunity

The Full-Time Residential Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing professional nursing care and maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment in an OMH-licensed Children's Community Residence. This role delivers continuous clinical supervision, manages medication administration, monitors resident health and safety, and coordinates response to medical crises and emergencies. Additionally, the position ensures accurate clinical documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards, supporting seamless continuity of care between shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and develop client health needs and refer to appropriate medical professionals.
  • Responsible for scheduling medical appointments and following through with doctors' recommendations.
  • Consultations with residents, treating psychiatrists, and other medical professionals as well participating in case conferences and treatment plans.
  • Ensure program medication compliance in all aspects of medication from ordering medication to dispensing medication, training, and monitoring staff in their role as administering medication. Adhering to agency medication policies and procedures.
  • Providing individual and group trainings on best physical and mental health practices to residents.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and documenting medication management goals and objectives in compliance with Medicaid.
  • Provide appropriate medical treatment to residents as needed.
  • Be on call for evaluation and information in response to medical emergencies.
  • Other tasks may be assigned to support effective program operations.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Certificates or Licenses: RN License & Current NYS Driver's License
  • Experience: 1 or more years of nursing experience; familiarity with adolescent medical, mental health issues, and psychotropic medications is highly preferred.
