Project Architect in Orlando who shares a desire to lead project work and processes in achieving high-quality design development and execution. HZ Orlando is looking for a talented individual with proven project experience through projects and practice, whose experience includes themed entertainment and hospitality projects. We are actively recruiting a unique talent that understands creative and themed design development process and design development, transforming concepts and storylines into technically sound design packages, and constructable solutions for our clients.
In this role, you will collaborate with office principals and fellow architects, while managing the design team and works in partnership with the project manager. Your previous experience should demonstrate an understanding of the design steps and flows for the design development and documentation of entertainment and hospitality focused projects. Duties:- With the Principal's leadership, lead assignments that include conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration ability and interest in full project delivery.
- Think, analyze, plan, test, ideate, and design is a norm for project development.
- Provide strategically minded design support for organization, production and execution of projects.
- Client interface comfortable, confident, and well versed in project meetings and presentations, able to represent the design and team ideas and work product.
- Works to represent professional and sound judgement in navigating the project decision making process, with a focus on building client trust and rapport.
- Coordinate and oversee the project team (including junior architects, consultants, and support staff) across all phases of design and construction.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration.
- Develop and refine design concepts that align with client goals, regulatory requirements, and our studio's commitment to design excellence.
- Lead the preparation of thorough and accurate construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and details.
- Oversee compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards.
- Integrate sustainable design strategies and best practices into project delivery as may be required.
- Coordinate with consultants and internal teams to ensure project milestones are met on time and within scope.
- Review documents for clarity, completeness, and technical accuracy.
- Facilitate internal and external project reviews at key stages to maintain consistency and design integrity.
- Contribute to project workplans, resourcing, and monitoring of the workflow, percent complete, and deliverables.
- Teach and mentor our team through projects, mentoring programs, in close partnership with office leadership.
- Maintain and nurture client relationships in a professional and valued manner.
- Clear understanding of project communication protocols internal and external, and effective communication management.
- Actively seek to promote and develop positive culture and ideas daily, and open to collaborating across offices to build a positive culture.
Qualifications: - Supports and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
- Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client).
- Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects.
- Cultivate relationships with clients and holds strong relationships with clients.
- Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process including weekly rhythm.
- Actively supports the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy.
- Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
- Actively engages and participates in training, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff.
- Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.
- Natural collaborator, seeking high quality and best ideas for our clients.
- 8+ years of relevant architecture and design experience, with a strong interest and background in commercial entertainment and hospitality projects.
- Skilled in presenting design concepts, ideas, technical rationales and solutions.
- Confidence and experience in client meetings, discussions, and ability to take positions relative to project and scope decisions.
- Experience and versed in scope, schedule, budget project parameters and metrics.
- Technology proficiencies to actively lead design teams and innovation, while actively being engaged in the ongoing works.
- Proficiency in required software platforms including Office, Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCad, Rhino, Adobe, and similar.
- Knowledge and experience in building code, life safety, ADA, and similar.
- Passionate about collaborating with building engineers, specialists, landscape, civil, and similar. Coordination with project team and other disciplines.
- Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, with a focus on design coordination, development, and documentation.
- Knowledge and experience in architecture process, phases of building design, and desire to continue professional growth.
- Strong desire to grow as a leader, contribute to office culture, and be part of building a collaborative and creative team.
Project Manager (PM) Role Annual Performance Goals & Expectations:- Having a deep understanding of how your work and contributions as a co-owner add to Huitt-Zollars' mission and core values.
- Maintaining expected Effective Labor Multiplier (ELM) on sum of all associated projects.
- Consistently upholds business processes including timely monthly A/R's, invoicing, timekeeping, resource forecasting, percent completes, etc.
- Achieves personal sales goal.
- Achieves stated target personal utilization goal for PM.
- Understands, follows and ensures quality control measures and risk management measures are being applied and adhered to projects and daily operations.
