Summary

BlueLinx is seeking a Regional Sales Specialist to assist in the development and management of customer relationships for assigned products. You will ensure profitable customer negotiations through strategic sales efforts and supplier negotiations. This role will have product management responsibilities that encompass pricing, promotion, marketing and forecasting activities for a specialty product category. The Regional Sales Specialist will also partner with outside sales to ensure sales efforts are maximized and opportunities uncovered.

What You'll Do:

  • Understands the company's vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.


  • Has assigned product responsibility such as promoting product to inside sales employees, assisting in product pricing, building vendor relationships, developing promotional literature and providing local sales plans/forecasts, purchasing decisions and market intelligence.


  • Assesses the market size, opportunities, and life cycles for assigned product categories to assist in determining BlueLinx' strategy for product procurement.


  • Qualifies sales opportunities through market / customer research and teaming with outside sales representatives.


  • Supports inventory strategy alignment. Assists inventory management process, including assuring appropriate inventory turns on slow moving and inactive products and ensuring appropriate service levels.


  • In collaboration with Sales Management, provides guidance in establishing goals and monitoring performance towards goals. Provides leadership in recruiting efforts, development, coaching and training.


  • Responsible for development, implementation, and execution of sales process for assigned categories (focus will typically be with large customers).


  • Collaborates with product management to ensure supplier requirements and strategies are clearly defined and executed. Will also work with product management on product assortment and product mix.
  • May lead a small group of employees directly and/or provide general guidance/direction and/or train associate level support employees.


  • Under general supervision, moderate latitude/ independent judgment exercises.


  • Performs a full range of professional work that typically requires processing and interpreting more complex, less clearly-defined issues.


  • Ability to build consensus and be appropriately diplomatic, understand others' roles and perspectives, can sell projects and ideas externally and across the organization. Influences others by presenting a strong case. Builds cross-functional relationships to build consensus and create results.


What We're Looking For:

  • BS/BA Degree in related field preferred; MS/MA/MBA a plus

The salary range provided is a good-faith estimate based on the position requirements and market data. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
