SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: The Regional Risk Manager is a trusted field business partner responsible for strengthening operational performance, protecting enterprise value and reducing risk across an assigned portfolio of hospitals. The role works directly with Hospital Leadership and regional partners to identify opportunities, solve complex problems and improve execution through operational assurance, investigations, analytics, coaching and practical field support. This position combines broad technical expertise in risk management, investigations, compliance, controlled substances, safety, physical security, crisis response and business continuity with strong business and financial acumen. The Regional Risk Manager uses field observations, operational and financial data, exception reporting and root-cause analysis to identify opportunities involving revenue integrity, charge capture, margin protection, inventory stewardship, loss reduction and execution consistency while protecting associates, clients, pets and the business. Operating as an experienced individual contributor, the Regional Risk Manager independently manages sensitive matters, influences leaders without direct authority, implements enterprise Value Protection programs and provides structured field intelligence to the Senior Regional Risk Manager. Success is measured through sustainable operational improvements, strong leadership partnerships and measurable financial, compliance and risk reduction outcomes.
• Partner with Hospital Leadership to identify and prioritize operational, financial and risk opportunities; provide practical guidance that strengthens medical excellence, execution discipline and enterprise value.
• Lead field assessments, operational assurance reviews and audits involving controlled substances, safety, waste management, invoicing, revenue integrity, inventory, physical security, business controls and other priority risks. 15% • Lead complex, sensitive investigations involving financial loss, misconduct, diversion, compliance concerns, associate safety, client concerns or operational breakdowns; determine root causes and guide sustainable corrective action.
• Analyze operational, financial and exception-reporting data to identify trends, charge-capture gaps, margin leakage, process variation and other business-performance opportunities.
• Coach and influence Hospital Leaders in applying enterprise standards, strengthening controls, resolving findings and sustaining improvements without relying on direct authority.
• Implement and support adoption of enterprise Value Protection, compliance, safety, operational assurance and performance initiatives across assigned hospitals.
• Build trusted cross-functional partnerships with Operations, Medical Operations, Finance, P&O, Legal, Compliance, Safety, Insurance and other teams to coordinate decisions and integrated field solutions.
• Support significant incidents, crises, disasters and business disruptions through field coordination, decision support, recovery activities and after-action improvement.
• Present findings, emerging risks, opportunities and recommended actions to Hospital and Regional Leadership using clear written reports, dashboards and executive-ready communication.
• Maintain accurate, timely and confidential case management, assessment records, corrective-action tracking and governance documentation; escalate material matters appropriately.
• Provide field intelligence and recommendations to improve policies, processes, systems, analytics, training and future Value Protection capabilities; support pilots and continuous improvement as assigned.
Education/Experience Required Preferred DEGREE* (specify) Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance, Criminal Justice, Safety, Healthcare Administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience independently supporting leaders, resolving complex matters and delivering measurable results across multiple locations is required. Ten or more years of relevant experience preferred, including veterinary, healthcare, retail or another complex multi-site service environment. Experience identifying financial and operational improvement opportunities and influencing senior field leaders is strongly preferred. CREDENTIAL/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATION Professional certification or equivalent depth of technical expertise in one or more relevant disciplines. CPP, CFE, ARM, CRM, CSP, CHPA, WZ, Lean/Six Sigma, project-management or other relevant professional certification. COMPUTER PROFICIENCY Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, case management and reporting systems; ability to interpret financial and operational dashboards, exception reporting and complex data sets. Experience with Power BI or similar analytics platforms, workflow tools and technology-enabled risk or operational-performance solutions. LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY English proficiency sufficient for investigations, consultation, training, facilitation, presentations and clear written reporting. Additional language proficiency is a plus. OTHER (describe) Valid driver's license; ability to travel approximately 50%; ability to work independently across a broad geography and provide timely support during urgent, sensitive or high impact matters. Occasional evening, weekend or on-call availability is required. Experience supporting crisis response, business continuity, enterprise program implementation or decentralized field operations.
