The
Regional Director, Data & Artificial Intelligence provides strategic and operational leadership for regional data, analytics, business intelligence, artificial intelligence, and data governance services within the Regional Digital Health portfolio. The role is responsible for advancing a regional Data and AI strategy that supports data-driven decision making, responsible AI adoption, innovation, and improved clinical, operational, financial, research, and patient outcomes across Central Region North organizations.
Working collaboratively with hospital, research, and industry partners, the Director oversees the development of foundational data and AI capabilities, governance frameworks, and advanced analytics solutions while ensuring compliance with privacy, ethical, and regulatory requirements. The role also supports research innovation through secure and responsible use of data assets.
Education & Experience: - Bachelor's degree in health informatics, Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, Analytics, Business Administration, Health Administration, or related field.
- Masters or Doctoral degree considered an asset.
- Formal education or certification in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics, Data Governance, or Digital Transformation considered an asset.

Responsibilities: - Provide strategic and operational leadership for regional Data, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Governance services.
- Lead the development and execution of Data and AI strategies, roadmaps, governance frameworks, and investment plans that advance digital health transformation and improve organizational performance.
- Build, coach, and sustain high-performing multidisciplinary teams while supporting workforce development, succession planning, and a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and service excellence.
- Oversee data governance, privacy, stewardship, quality, interoperability, security, ethical AI practices, and compliance with legislative, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
- Advance business intelligence, decision support, self-service analytics, predictive analytics, modern data platforms, and scalable architecture to enable timely, accurate, and actionable insights.
- Guide the responsible evaluation, prioritization, implementation, monitoring, and adoption of AI solutions that support patient care, operational efficiency, workforce productivity, research, and healthcare system outcomes.
- Develop trusted partnerships with executives, clinicians, operational leaders, researchers, Ontario Health, academic institutions, vendors, and regional partners to align priorities and accelerate innovation.
- Represent RVH and the Central Region North LDG in regional, provincial, and national Data and AI forums, serving as executive sponsor and subject matter leader for regional initiatives.
- Reduce the cost and increase the maturity of Data and AI in the region through rationalization, standardization and centralization of resources, services and digital platforms.
- Lead and chair regional Data Governance & Analytics and AI Governance committees, ensuring effective decision-making, accountability, prioritization, risk management, and alignment with organizational and regional strategic objectives.
- Provide periodic reporting and recommendations to executive leadership teams, governance committees, and Boards regarding Data and AI strategy, performance, risks, compliance, investment priorities, and realized outcomes.
