Full Job Description
Position Purpose:

The Regional Consultant Manager plays a vital role in managing the professional development needs of the schools and BEC partners within the region while recruiting, managing, and coaching the regional consultant team. They are actively involved and responsible for demonstrating professional credibility by providing the necessary consultation and content development for internal and external training for BEC programs and related topics.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Management: PD Plans, Pilots, and District Support
  • Develop an annual plan with the PD management team for all PD meetings and trainings.
  • Provide competitive feedback on supplemental and core products as needed and share nationally.
  • Maintain open communication between consultants and the national team to relay product successes and challenges, ensuring product development is informed.
  • Utilize data to inform strategies for staffing and department goals continuously monitoring performance metrics to optimize efficiency and achieve organizational objectives.
  • As needed, respond to RFPs as they relate to PD and Scope of Work of different products.
  • Collaborate with the Pilot Manager to develop pilot strategies, create pilot plans, and manage pilot expectations.
  • Work directly with identified districts to plan their PD (for implementation and follow-up PD) to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction.
  • Monitor customer expectations and results of PD implementations and long-term professional development services.


Management: Sales and Training Presentations
  • Create sales presentations for core and supplemental materials as assigned by the Senior Director of Professional Development.
  • Develop and monitor customer-facing new content trainings for implementation and follow-up as assigned by the Senior Director of Professional Development.
  • Develop solutions for complex client situations to meet the goals and objectives of the PD Plan.
  • Train Regional Consultants and Per Diems with the help of the Senior Regional Consultant Manager and Senior Director of Professional Development on sales messages, implementation product training, and competition.
  • Deliver key sales presentations and implementation trainings as needed.


Team Management: Hiring, Observations/Evaluations, Coaching/Performance Reviews
  • Interview candidates for full-time consultants and regional new per diems.
  • Observe and mentor PD consultants' presentations before they present to customers.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews of direct reports, providing coaching as needed and planning consultants' goals for the following year.
  • Observe direct reports in the field twice a year as part of performance reviews.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor PD consultants to assess performance and conduct year-end reviews.
  • Oversee consultants' submission of calendared assignments to senior management.
  • Encourage new ideas and growth through practice presentations, including other consultants in these meetings to foster team learning.
  • Approve consultants' expenses in your region in a timely manner.


Management: Communication
  • Attend regular meetings with other PD Regional Consultant Managers to implement the yearly training plan, upsell strategies, and sales messages.
  • Communicate regularly with Regional Vice Presidents (RVP) to meet the PD needs of the region.
  • Keep the regional PD team informed on product updates, company decisions, marketing trends, new marketing pieces, and competition information through regular communication with other Regional Consultant Managers and the National office.


Management: Assignments
  • Work with schedulers to make assignment decisions, recognizing that some consultants may cross over to other regions due to expertise levels.
  • Provide input to the RVP on identifying consultants to submit and present at approved local conferences.
  • Collaborate closely with the RVP and Senior Director of Professional Development to ensure PD operations run smoothly based on field needs.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, Masters preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of elementary teaching experience
  • Teaching experience in one or of the following: Comprehensive Literacy, Science of Reading Research, Intervention Work, English Language Learner Support
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional development experience
  • Demonstrated experience using high-quality adult learning practices
  • Proficiently use and adapt to multiple software, platforms, and devices
  • Build strong relationships with sales team members
  • Can develop rapport with an audience and effectively and strategically respond to audience questions
  • Strong comfort level with communication technology skills including understanding current computer software, word processing, a variety of online browsers as well as skill with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Zoom, TEAMS and online web/based tools (Understanding of Google Classroom a plus)
  • Familiarity with state standards across dedicated region and best practices in the use of educational technology
  • Superior communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to present to large audiences and key decision-making stakeholders in sales situations
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a cross-functional environment on a daily basis to achieve and exceed desired goals
  • Demonstrated capacity to be a catalyst for change with the ability to remain neutral and constructive when faced with customer concerns, well organized and collaborative
  • Must be able to travel overnight often (up to 50-60% overnight)
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must live near a major metropolitan airport
  • Must live in the region of job position territory


Desired Skill and Experience:
  • Previous experience with curriculum development
  • Classroom experience teaching with BEC products
  • Bilingual/Biliterate


Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000

*The base salary range represents the low and high end of the expected salary range for the position. The base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors such as geographic location, experience, education, and skill level.
