We are looking for a Regional Accountant to provide financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and general accounting support for Regional Operations. In this role, you will partner closely with leaders, project teams, and internal support groups to provide meaningful financial insights and support effective decision-making. You will also play an important role in project financial reporting, budget management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead regional operating cost budgeting and forecasting, working with Directors, Managers, and Supervisors to develop annual zero-based budgets, monitor expenditures, analyze variances, provide forecast updates, and resolve coding or classification issues.
  • Coordinate capital budgeting and financial reporting by supporting budget submissions, preparing monthly capital status reports, collaborating with Project Managers and Clerks, and assisting with Oracle Cloud Project Management tracking requirements.
  • Perform financial and data analysis across multiple data sources, completing quality checks and providing accurate, timely information to support business and operational decision-making.
  • Serve as a key financial liaison between Regional Operations and internal support groups, including Finance, Supply Chain Management, Projects, Safety, Human Resources, Governance, and Right-of-Way teams.
  • Support project and financial administration, including reimbursable projects, third-party invoicing, Work Orders/Requisitions, contracts, purchase-related activities, and other financial instruments.
  • Provide Finance support during emergency response events, serving in a Chief or Deputy capacity as required, providing guidance on Finance forms and accounting processes, and completing necessary follow-up activities.
  • Support special assignments and regional business needs, including Oracle system testing and enhancements, investigation or task force teams, fleet management activities, field audits, inventories, and other continuous improvement initiatives.


Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 4 or more years of progressive financial or accounting experience, ideally supporting operational, project, or capital-intensive environments.
  • Strong proficiency with Oracle, Oracle Project Management, Microsoft Excel, and Word, with the ability to effectively navigate financial systems and analyze data.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to interpret financial information, identify variances, and provide meaningful insights.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and can effectively collaborate with Project Managers, operational leaders, support departments, and employees at various levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player who demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, accountability, and the ability to work independently when required.


Working Conditions:
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with occasional field visits required to support audits, inventories, or other operational activities.
  • Some regional travel is required to support activities such as employee or supervisor training, budgeting, cost tracking, emergency response, and other Regional Operations requirements.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and provide additional support during emergency response events or other time-sensitive operational requirements, as needed.


Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to:

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.

Salary:
  • Ranges from $82,000 - $105,000 USD for USA locations based upon candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity.
  • Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
