Overview

The Electrical Engineer II is a mid-level individual contributor responsible for the design, development, integration, and validation of electrical and electronic systems for specialty mobile equipment operating in harsh environments. The role emphasizes SAE J1939 CAN-based control systems, vehicle telematics, and complex wiring harnesses designed for harsh operating environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end electrical system architecture including power distribution, control networks, protection strategies, and interface definitions.
  • Provide technical direction and support to production personnel,
  • Participate in cross-functional engineering efforts, project planning, and design reviews.
  • Provide Engineering technical support for the Rail King product line as it pertains to Electrical Engineering.
  • Design and develop electrical architecture, power distribution, and electronic systems to withstand shock, vibration, thermal extremes moisture, dust, corrosion, and electrical noise
  • Architect, develop and validate SAE J1939 CAN-based control systems including nod integration, message definition, fault handling, and service diagnostics.
  • Perform wiring-harness design through concept, routing, connector selection, manufacturability, serviceability, and field durability
  • Support telematics and connectivity solutions.
  • Facilitate environmental validation, fault isolation, and root-cause analysis under real world operating conditions.
  • Support field commissioning, issue resolution, and continuous improvement based on field performance data and service feedback.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including sales, procurement, field service, manufacturing, and external contractors.
  • Act as technical lead on small- to medium-scale engineering projects.
  • Schedule and facilitate design reviews based on milestones set during project.
  • Ensure design review notes are compiled, vetted for necessity and implemented into scope if required.
  • Assist in identification of potential risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Mid-level individual contributor with technical leadership responsibilities, including design development, design authority, and subsystem ownership.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related technical field).
  • 3-6 years of experience with mobile-equipment electrical systems.
  • First-hand experience with J1939 CAN systems and wiring-harness design.
  • Experience supporting equipment in a shop, test, and field environments. This is not a solely desk-based design role.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.


Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with harsh-environment electronics a plus.
  • Experience with Codesys and / or Parker IQAN software a plus.
