DESCRIPTIONUC San Diego Health is seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Supervisor to oversee clinical and translational research activities involving SPECT/CT, PET/MR, PET/CT, and investigational radiopharmaceuticals. The incumbent provides day-to-day supervision of staff and operations supporting research and clinical nuclear medicine services, including radiotracer handling, participant imaging, biospecimen processing, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance activities.
The supervisor ensures research protocols and clinical operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HIPAA, FDA, IRB, and radiation safety requirements. Working closely with investigators, nuclear medicine physicians, radiochemists, physicists, and multidisciplinary clinical teams, the incumbent coordinates workflow, facilitates quality and compliance initiatives, supports staff development, and contributes to the successful execution of complex research and imaging programs across UC San Diego Health.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- California Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
- Five (5) or more years of radiology experience with at least one (1) year in Nuclear Medicine.
- Applied background in nuclear medicine. Knowledge of modalities, protocols, terms and concepts. Skill operating imaging equipment.
- Knowledge of medical center, HR, and UC policies and processes.
- Proven ability to supervise and coordinate activities of subordinate staff, establish priorities and delegate work assignments.
- Ability to assist with personnel management issues, such as performance reviews, disciplinary actions, etc.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with staff, patients and other medical personnel.
- Solid communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrated ability to listen actively and counsel and work in a collaborative manner.
- Computer proficiency and competency in MS Word and Excel. Knowledge of electronic medical / health records.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB).
- Experience with SPECT/CT, PET, PET/MR, PET/CT, investigational radiotracers, and IND-supported studies.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with phantom scanning, scanner QA/QC procedures, and imaging physics collaboration.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $123,000 - $237,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $58.91 - $113.89
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
