Company: Dalcom Engineering

Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

Salary: $80,000-$130,000

Position Overview: Dalcom Engineering is seeking a Radar Data Analyst to support U.S. Army radar science and technology efforts at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Working with radar subject matter experts, systems engineers, and Government stakeholders, you will analyze radar and sensor data to evaluate system performance, identify trends, and investigate anomalies. This role uses MATLAB and Microsoft Excel to turn complex technical datasets into clear reports, visualizations, and briefings that inform radar development and modernization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ingest, parse, and analyze structured data from multiple radar and sensor systems using MATLAB and advanced Microsoft Excel tools.
  • Establish, maintain, and report key performance indicators, including track initiation timelines, track continuity, false alarm and false track ratios, positional accuracy, and target solution generation metrics.
  • Evaluate data across test configurations, operational scenarios, and environmental conditions to identify performance trends, anomalies, and degradation.
  • Develop an understanding of radar operating principles, signal and data processing pipelines, target tracking algorithms, and kinematic solution generation.
  • Investigate raw telemetry and detailed data streams to identify causes of unexpected tracking behavior or differences between expected and observed performance.
  • Organize and document test datasets, analytical scripts, data parsing routines, and standardized performance reporting workflows.
  • Collaborate with radar subject matter experts, systems engineers, and Government stakeholders to identify opportunities for system refinement and performance improvement.
  • Translate analytical findings into clear graphical reports and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Brief findings, trends, and actionable recommendations to engineering teams, project managers, and Government stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Data Analytics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience performing data analysis, identifying trends, or evaluating performance using complex technical datasets.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET Security Clearance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MATLAB for data preparation, mathematical analysis, and visualization.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, PivotTables, data modeling, and chart creation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and disciplined data organization.
  • Interest in learning radar principles, target tracking mechanics, and complex sensor systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop clear presentations and brief technical results to varied audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Coursework, training, or practical experience in radar fundamentals, digital signal processing, radio frequency principles, target tracking, or Kalman filtering.
  • Experience working with DoD test range telemetry formats, mission data logs, or multi-sensor tracking datasets.
  • Experience using Python for data analysis and visualization, including pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, or seaborn.
  • Experience developing standardized dashboards or automated reporting templates for technical leadership.
