Full Job Description
Summary of role:

The Polymer Process Engineer is responsible for the Research & Development of methods, processes, tools, and systems required for the company's advancement in polymer offerings. Defines, develops & documents efficient processing methods, parameters, procedures, and materials. Develops equipment/tooling to facilitate production-capable process scaling.

Tasks and responsibilities:
  • Performs complex research and analysis tasks to determine the best process design approach.
  • Provide recommendations of the most appropriate and cost-effective manufacturing engineering tools, machines, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies to commercialize the product.
  • Investigate manufacturing costs and provides manufacturing process adjustments and improvements.
  • Determines equipment requirements to ensure equipment is compatible with the process.
  • Selects new manufacturing processes and may introduce new equipment to existing processes.
  • Provides technical assistance in implementing new manufacturing technologies.
  • Follow existing documentation practices and continuously look for improvements.
  • Operates under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment.
  • Demonstrates understanding, support and consistent application of our Vision, Mission and Core Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:
  • Must have the ability to effectively operate injection molding machines and support equipment, including a good knowledge of polymers. Alternate in Process Engineering acceptable.
  • Process Engineering, including automation, demonstrated the ability to integrate key process characteristics up to full-scale production.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment with other departments, such as Materials Testing, Simulation, and Product Design.
  • Ability to analyze situations and determine logical and reasonable solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with team members and all levels of the organization.
  • Must have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven project and time management skills.
  • Effectively use Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have a high level of attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of materials and material requirements.
  • Ability to promote continuous improvement priorities while achieving desired results.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve set goals on time.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline required.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment operating melt processing equipment is required
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in processes such as injection molding, extrusion, composites, thermoforming, etc.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in automation processes or polymer processing
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 kgs.

Travel Requirements:

Up to 20% domestic and international.

The final compensation offered to the candidate may be based on geographical location, work experience and/or skill level. Additions to the compensation package, including but not limited to paid time off, insurance benefits and 401(k) eligibility, will be outlined at the time of the job offer.

Compensation range: $82,000 - $123,500
