Quantum Sensing Engineer Location: Sherbrooke Employment Type: Full-Time in a fast-growing startup This is a unique opportunity to: • Bring your expertise in quantum engineering and physics to push field deployable diamond magnetometry to next level • Work with a team to transition quickly NV physics into prototypes • Deploy novel sensor designs on the field for end-user feedback • Pioneer magnetic navigation for real world applications • Have real ownership and impact in a high-growth, mission-driven environment Who We're Looking For We're looking for a proactive, analytic yet hands-on person who thrives in building structure from the ground up and autonomous in making stuff happen. You bring a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach, with the autonomy and drive to move initiatives forward in a fast-paced environment. You're combining your expertise in quantum control and prototyping with the team and collaborators to quickly transition bench demonstrations into product features. Key Responsibilities • Lead the development and experimental implementation of high-sensitivity operation schemes for NV-diamond magnetometers - from concept through validated performance on hardware. • Design, implement, and deliver novel quantum control and pulse-sequence protocols, translating operation schemes into robust, fieldable measurement routines and demonstrating quantifiable gains in sensitivity, bandwidth, and accuracy. • Identify bottlenecks, possible improvements to guide innovation and engineering. • Define and execute SWaP-reduction work packages, identifying the optical, control, and architectural changes needed. • Contribute to optical design and sensor photonic integration, leveraging your optics expertise to move from bulk/free-space setups toward integrated, manufacturable sensor architectures. • Own technical delivery of assigned R&D projects, driving them against milestones, technical targets, and reporting commitments as the accountable performance lead. • Champion the work both internally and with external partners, coordinating collaborative work packages with academic and industry collaborators, aligning shared deliverables, and serving as the technical point of contact for the sensing effort. • Share SBQuantum diamond magnetometry advancements at international technical workshops and events.
