Technical Services/Quality Manager
We have an opportunity to join our Franklin, KY facility in a key leadership role. We seek results-driven, hands-on candidates for the position of Quality Manager. In this role you will drive our plant quality efforts, providing technical expertise to develop and improve cast house manufacturing processes. Through your expertise you will help us achieve maximum productivity and yield improvements in our process.
Key Responsibilities- Lead our technical service efforts in identifying and implementing opportunities for improved process control and end product quality and consistency.
- Maintain ISO 9001 Certification and utilize methodologies to strengthen plant processes and management system including cross-functional corrective action development.
- Develop, plan, and implement process or product improvement projects to reduce scrap rates and standardize DC casting process.
- Identify and lead data driven process control and improvement projects, utilizing continuous improvement methodologies including but not limited to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Theory of Constraints.
- Analyze key metrics for trends and identify process improvement opportunities to ensure production and maintenance teams make continuous improvements.
- Oversee data collection systems used for process monitoring and improvements.
- Develop plant operations and technical employees' problem-solving skills and understanding of data analysis and process improvement.
- Influence and coach Quality Technicians (direct reports) for personal and technical development.
- Influence and coach production team on QMS and continuous improvement techniques.
Education RequirementsBS or MS in metallurgy, material science, mechanical engineering, or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
Desired Experience- Five years of manufacturing experience with at least two years of managing direct reports.
- Subject matter expertise in process control and improvement techniques with a proven history of driving improvements.
- Solid knowledge of the casting process and molten metal processes.
- Good knowledge of ingot subsequent manufacturing and applications (e.g., rolling, extrusion, forging processes).
- Six Sigma Green Belt/Six Sigma Black Belt/Lean Manufacturing.
- Two to three years of experience managing quality project activities and initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills with knowledge of statistical data analysis.
- Good understanding of QMS, ISO and applying customer requirements to process.
- Proven skills in data acquisition, analysis, and report writing.
- Effective communication and organizational skills, along with a proven ability to work as part of a team and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
Working ConditionsNormal office environment 50% of the time; could be exposed to outside conditions year-round; low frequent exposure to molten metal at temperatures reaching 1300 degrees F; low frequent exposure to extreme ambient temperatures, depending on the season; low frequent exposure to overhead loads, loud noise, and dust. May travel up to 5% of the time.
