Job Description

As a Quality, Reliability & Durability (QRD) Engineer at General Motors LLC, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest levels of product quality, reliability, and durability for our vehicles.

This role connects customer experience, data analytics and product engineering within Vehicle Software and Electronics Engineering Quality (VSEE Quality) to drive both short-term containment and long-term quality improvements across global vehicle programs.

You will be instrumental in preventing issues, identifying and resolving problems and continuously improving our manufacturing processes to deliver exceptional products to our customers.

Job Responsibilities:**
  • Analyze long-term warranty data across VSEE to identify patterns, trends, emerging issues and produce summary of findings needed for handoff to responsible QRD
  • Represent VSEE QRD in CPIT / Focus CPIT, SMT Core PDT, QRD Reviews, daily and weekly QRD calls and other escalation forums as required.
  • Create automation/dashboards for the analysis
  • Support plan and implement target sufficiency actions to address QRD issues, ensuring temporary containment and permanent corrective actions are driven to closure.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering teams to integrate quality and reliability considerations into vehicle design and development.
  • Utilize PRTS (Problem Resolution and Tracking System) to effectively track, analyze and resolve quality issues, implementing robust corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive containment and permanent corrective actions for plant and service field.
  • Engage in Supplier Quality Management to assess and improve the quality performance of external suppliers.
  • Apply advanced Technical Problem-Solving methodologies to diagnose root causes of complex quality and reliability issues.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of Vehicle Manufacturing Processes to identify opportunities for quality enhancement and defect prevention.
  • Develop and implement quality metrics and reporting to monitor product performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to manufacturing teams on quality-related matters.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
  • Demonstrated experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles and tools.
  • Proficiency in Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Strong understanding of Product Engineering principles and processes.
  • Experience with problem resolution and tracking systems (PRTS or similar).
  • Proven expertise in Supplier Quality Management.
  • Excellent Technical Problem-Solving skills, with a track record of successful issue resolution.
  • Experience applying Variation Reduction methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of Vehicle Manufacturing Processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Skills:
  • Familiar with AI solutions/applications.
  • Expert in Python coding for automation
  • Experience data analytics, processing large datasets to enable AI/ML-ready outputs.
