The Quality Manager leads the site quality function with full accountability for product quality, process integrity, and quality assurance team performance. This role is responsible for setting the direction for quality at the site, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and building a team and quality management system that support consistent, scalable execution.
Operating in a lean manufacturing environment, the Quality Manager ensures that quality is embedded into daily operations rather than functioning as a separate checkpoint. This role drives alignment across operations, engineering, and supply chain, with a focus on proactively identifying and addressing quality risks.
The Quality Manager is accountable for establishing priorities, allocating resources, and ensuring appropriate team coverage across shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed. This role maintains visibility into floor operations while focusing on long-term system strength, audit readiness, and customer satisfaction.
In environments that include precision manufacturing and cleanroom operations, this role ensures that quality standards are maintained across controlled environments, specialized processes, and product-specific requirements.
● Lead and develop the site quality team, including organizational design, hiring, coaching, and performance management
● Own site quality performance, including defect rates, yield, customer complaints, cost of quality, and audit outcomes
● Establish and communicate quality priorities aligned with site and business objectives
● Ensure appropriate resourcing and coverage across shifts, including evenings and weekends as required by production
● Oversee execution of inspection, testing, and quality control processes to ensure consistency and effectiveness
● Ensure root cause and corrective actions are completed thoroughly and sustainably, with clear ownership and follow-through
● Own the site quality management system, ensuring alignment with internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations
● Lead internal, customer, and regulatory audits, including preparation, execution, and response
● Partner cross-functionally to improve processes, reduce variability, and enhance product performance
● Drive a culture of accountability where quality is owned across functions
● Monitor quality trends and risks, proactively identifying areas requiring intervention
● Provide leadership reporting on quality performance, risks, and improvement initiatives
● Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field required
● 5+years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or quality environments, preferably in precision manufacturing or regulated industries
● 3+years of experience leading teams in a manufacturing setting, optical components and optomechanical assemblies experience preferred
● Experience owning quality systems, audits, and regulatory or customer requirements
● Experience supporting cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments preferred
● Demonstrated experience driving cross-functional quality initiatives
● Experience operating in lean or continuous improvement-driven environments
● Strong leadership and team development capabilities
● Deep understanding of quality systems, manufacturing processes, and inspection methodologies
● Familiarity with cleanroom practices, contamination control, or precision manufacturing standards
● Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
● Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
● Ability to influence across functions and drive accountability
● Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret trends
● Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
