Full Job Description
ROLE: The experienced Aerospace Quality Engineer / Quality System Specialist to lead and maintain quality management systems, ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing and engineering processes. This role is critical to ensuring product safety, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction in a highly regulated environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100 and FAA requirements
  • Lead internal and external audits, including customer and regulatory audits (FAA, EASA, DCMA, NADCAP)
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) investigations using tools such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone diagrams
  • Review and approve First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102
  • Manage nonconformance reporting (NCR), material review board (MRB) dispositions, and supplier corrective actions (SCAR)
  • Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Develop and monitor quality metrics (scrap, rework, yield, PPM) and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and applicable industry standards
  • Interface with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and customers to resolve quality issues
  • Support calibration programs and measurement system analysis (MSA/Gage R&R)
  • Maintain document control, training records, and quality records per configuration management requirements
  • Support ITAR/export control compliance as applicable
  • Train, oversee, and develop the Quality Inspector team, including onboarding, performance management, and skills development

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial) or related technical field; equivalent experience considered
  • 3-7+ years of quality engineering experience in an aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/AS9102/AS9145 and ISO 9001 standards
  • Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (8D, DMAIC, 5-Why, Fishbone)
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and blueprint reading
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and inspection techniques (CMM, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers)
  • Strong understanding of FAA/EASA regulatory requirements and NADCAP special process requirements
  • Proficiency with quality tools such as FMEA, control plans, and SPC software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for audit reporting and cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • ASQ Certification (CQE, CQA, or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt)
  • Experience as a Lead Auditor for AS9100 or NADCAP
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, IFS) and quality management software (MasterControl, ETQ, Arena)
  • Experience with supplier quality management and supplier development
  • Working knowledge of ITAR/EAR export control regulations
  • Experience with digital inspection tools and Automated Test Equipment (ATE) operation
  • Working knowledge of NetInspect


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES

  • Language/Communication: English, Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.
  • Computer Skills: Basic MS Office skills required (Outlook, Word, Excel),, Must be able to navigate company intranet to find industry specifications and company policies & procedures, Must be able to add documents and perform inspection / quality system transactions within the company's quality system software.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Abilities: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, strict attention to details and ability to multitask and prioritize as necessary, with minimal supervisory direction. Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks. Continuous Improvement Mindset a must.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Must work well within a team environment and independently.
