Quality Engineer
Our Quality Engineer supports Mativ's Sustainability & Adhesives Solutions (SAS) Function. This individual will help to support the Quality Management System, applies quality engineering principles to address product and process issues; ensures successful new and/or changed products/processes during design transfer to manufacturing. Develops an understanding of complaint investigations and root cause analysis for effective corrective/preventive actions. Works on a wide range of quality problems related to Quality Engineering, Quality Systems, Product & Process Quality, and Supplier Management. Provides guidance / support to the department QC and QA inspectors to facilitate QMS and / or quality issues. The location of this role is in Windsor, CT and reports to the Quality Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Facilitates the investigation of complex quality investigations, including application of statistical methods and analysis to include trending of complaints as a tool for ensuring effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Effectively resolves manufacturing issues and/or field complaints in cross-functional team environment.
• Determines and manages disposition of non-conforming product.
• Ensures with R&D and Manufacturing Teams that manufacturing and design documentation is accurate, complete, and fully conforms to specification/procedures, including approval of verification and validation deliverables per design and development policies.
• Utilizes risk mitigation tools such as PPAP, PFMEA, MSA, pFMEAs, and Control Plans.
• Develops inspection techniques and procedures to ensure product integrity to design specifications. Responsible for the writing, approval, and implementation of inspection procedures.
• Provides support in the evaluation and management of internal and external supplier quality.
• Provides quality engineering support for cross-functional product/process continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Six Sigma projects.
• Proactively reviews past product performance to determine improvement opportunities
• Assists in compiling regulatory documentation as required by customers and design control procedures.
• Supports internal/external audits (ISO 13485, ISO 9001, AS9100, Customers).
Qualifications:
Required
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or Natural Sciences
• 5-10 years Quality experience in a manufacturing environment in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or AS9100.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical information.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to solve problems using a variety of tools such as fishbone, pareto charts, C&E matrix, hypothesis testing, control charting, DOE, sampling methods, and process capability.
• Ability to comprehend and apply principles of statistics with demonstrated application of statistical theory and sampling plans (e.g. SPC, Cpk/Ppk, PPAP, AQL, OC curves, etc.).
• Use of Minitab for statistical analysis.
• Strong attention to detail in document/report technical writing.
• Ability to articulate with senior staff, customers, and suppliers.
• Ability to train staff to new/revised instructions or test methods.
• Practical experience of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred
• Familiarity with Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Tapes standards and procedures in a quality control environment to include laboratory testing.
• Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.
• ASQ CQE certification a plus.
