About This RoleWe are seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to help build and scale our quality program from the ground up. This role will partner closely with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and operations to establish quality standards, inspection methods, and processes that support production growth and continuous improvement.
The Quality Engineer will play a key role in developing the quality management system, improving process capability, supporting supplier quality, and selecting inspection equipment needed for both development and production operations
Responsibilities- Develop quality procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, and control plans.
- Support the development and maintenance of the company's quality management system.
- Review engineering drawings and define inspection requirements.
- Evaluate, select, and implement inspection equipment, measurement tools, fixtures, and automated inspection methods.
- Lead first article inspections, process validation activities, and quality planning for new products.
- Analyze process performance and recommend improvements to reduce variation and defects.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Support material review board activities and drive reduction of scrap, rework, and nonconforming material.
- Issue and track supplier corrective actions and participate in supplier audits.
- Work cross-functionally with manufacturing and engineering teams to improve product quality and process controls.
- Develop and maintain quality metrics and communicate quality trends to leadership.
- Train inspectors and production personnel on quality standards and inspection methods.
- Support customer audits, source inspections, and resolution of quality concerns.
Basic Qualifications- Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in manufacturing, development, or production engineering.
- Proficient in a 3D CAD package (such as Solidworks, CATIA, NX, etc.) and the ability to make manufacturing drawings using GD&T.
- Hands-on experience building hardware.
Preferred Skills and Experience- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related technical field preferred.
- Three or more years of experience in manufacturing quality engineering.
- Experience with quality planning, process validation, root cause analysis, statistical methods, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Experience with inspection equipment, metrology tools, and measurement systems.
- Supplier quality and audit experience preferred.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and industry standards preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Experience using PC-DMIS and Verisurf
Additional Requirements- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
Compensation and BenefitsThe base salary range for this role is
$110,000-$160,000 annually.
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
