Description

About the role:

As a Quality Engineer in Double E's high-mix, low-volume job shop, you will own quality from print review through final inspection and shipment for custom engineered and machined components. You will help prevent defects, manage nonconforming material, resolve customer quality issues, and keep make-to-order work moving.

This hands-on role requires strong quality fundamentals, technical documentation skills, and practical shop-floor problem solving.

Requirements

What you'll do
  • Support quality for custom, low-volume parts from print review and risk assessment through first article, final inspection, and shipment.
  • Review drawings, GD&T, specifications, routings, BOMs, work orders, revision history, and inspection data.
  • Lead RCA, CAPA, containment, MRB review, and disposition of nonconforming material, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Maintain inspection plans, quality documentation, work instructions, control plans, and process controls.
  • Support in-process, final, and dimensional inspection; measurement systems; and calibration awareness.
  • Use defect trends, ERP data, quality metrics, and production feedback to drive practical HMLV improvements.

About you

You bring a quality mindset, technical aptitude, and the ability to solve customer and manufacturing issues across teams.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a job shop machining environment.
  • Experience implementing a system that will drive data driven improvement results that provides real time Trend, Pareto and Action updates.
  • Degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience in machining, metal fabrication, engineered components, make-to-order, or job shop production.
  • Knowledge of inspection planning, dimensional inspection, RCA, CAPA, containment, 5 Whys, corrective action, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to read drawings, tolerances, GD&T, specifications, revision levels, and technical documentation.
  • ERP research experience with routings, inventory, work orders, BOMs, part history, inspection records, NCRs, RMAs, and quality records - Specifically InforVisual.
  • Strong communication across Engineering, Production, Planning, Supply Chain, and customer-facing teams.
  • Able to manage shifting priorities and customer-specific requirements in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment.

Bonus Points
  • Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar 2D/3D CAD experience.
  • ISO 9001, AS9100, lean, Six Sigma, PPAP, FMEA, or formal problem-solving experience.
  • Background in web handling, converting, packaging, rollers, shafts, chucks, safety chucks, or related equipment.
