Full Job Description
The Quality Control Manager is a key leadership role responsible for leading the Quality Control Department and ensuring the authenticity, quality, and compliance of electronic components throughout the procurement, inspection, and distribution process. Based at our North America Distribution Center, this position oversees quality inspection operations, counterfeit prevention programs, advanced testing services, and compliance with AS9120 Quality Management System and AS6081 Counterfeit Electronic Parts Avoidance standards.

Working collaboratively with Operations, QEHS, Engineering, Sales, and MRB, the Quality Control Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives that reduce organizational risk, strengthen inspection performance, and ensure customers receive authentic, high-quality electronic components that meet all regulatory and customer requirements.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Quality Control Inspectors and Quality Technicians.
  • Establish performance expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and provide ongoing coaching to enhance technical competency and professional growth.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, quality excellence, and operational discipline.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, workload distribution, and inspection priorities to meet customer and operational requirements.

Quality Inspection & Compliance
  • Lead all incoming, in-process, customer-specific, and final inspection activities for electronic components.
  • Ensure inspection processes comply with AS6081, AS9120, customer specifications, and internal quality procedures.
  • Review and approve inspection reports to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Maintain quality records, inspection documentation, calibration programs, and equipment in accordance with quality management system requirements.

Counterfeit Detection & Technical Leadership

  • Serve on the Material Review Board (MRB) as the organization's technical authority for counterfeit electronic component detection and mitigation.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical support regarding inspection requirements, counterfeit risk assessments, and customer quality concerns.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve counterfeit prevention strategies and inspection protocols.
  • Provide technical guidance on:
    • Visual and microscopic inspection
    • Documentation and traceability verification
    • Dimensional inspection
    • Marking permanency testing
    • X-ray inspection
    • Electrical testing
    • Decapsulation review
    • Advanced analytical testing through qualified laboratories
    • Evaluate suspect or nonconforming material and determine appropriate disposition based on technical findings and risk assessment.

Continuous Improvement & Quality Systems

  • Analyze quality metrics, inspection data, team performance, and customer
    feedback to identify improvement opportunities.

Audit & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure readiness for compliance reviews and maintain all quality documentation.
  • Verify inspection equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and ESD monitoring programs.
  • Maintain an ESD-safe inspection environment and ensure compliance with ANSI/ESD standards.

Your qualifications, your influence:

To be successful in the role, you must possess the following skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Electronics Technology, Supply Chain, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience within the electronic components, electronics distribution, aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing industries.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing Quality Control or technical inspection teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9120 Quality Management Systems and AS6081
  • Counterfeit Electronic Parts Avoidance requirements.
  • Extensive experience with counterfeit electronic component inspection methodologies.
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Working knowledge of ANSI/ESD control standards and electronic component handling practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management software.

Preferred skills and technical familiarity:

  • Experience with IDEA-STD-1010 inspection methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ERAI, GIDEP, SAE AS6171, and advanced counterfeit mitigation practices.
  • Experience coordinating advanced laboratory testing, including X-ray, decapsulation, electrical testing, XRF, and other analytical techniques.
  • ASQ Quality certification (CQE, CQA, CQI) or Internal Auditor certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
  • Experience supporting ISO 9001 and ANSI/ESD S20.20 compliance.
