Gilbane is seeking a Quality Control Director to lead and manage the quality assurance strategy across all field operations for Gilbane Building. The Director develops strategies that integrate quality with safety, productivity, and profitability.
Responsibilities
The Federal Quality Control Director provides strategic leadership and oversight of Gilbane’s Quality Control program across its portfolio of Federal projects, ensuring consistent compliance with contract requirements, Federal agency standards, and Gilbane’s enterprise quality practices. Serving as the functional leader for Federal QC personnel, this role oversees QC staffing and qualifications, project-specific QC plans, audits, corrective actions, performance metrics, and the development and training of Quality Control Managers supporting projects globally.
- Maintain and update, as needed, the Federal Division QC program to maintain compliance with industry and Federal government QC requirements
- Serve as point of contact with the Division for the Government entities on QA/QC practices, questions, topics and issues
- Serve as Functional leader of QC personnel in a matrix organization serving projects globally, assigning only qualified individuals to each project; including vetting proposed QCM personnel assignments to assure contract qualifications are met, and to issue appointment letters
- Manage and maintain a robust Quality Audit program for Federal projects; including working with projects when non-compliance reports are received to assure cogent and appropriate responses are crafted
- Provide streamlined project-specific QC plan templates for prime IDIQ contracts that comply with contract requirements
- Review and approve project-specific QC Plans; including establishing QC Program early start-up and close-out processes and monitoring metrics
- Interface with Business Unit and Operations Management on QC needs and program implementation
- Coordinate and work with Enterprise Global QC Director to achieve integrated programs to the extent possible
- Coordinate and conduct onboarding and training for project Quality Control Managers.
- Create training material to incorporate Enterprise’s operational procedures and software tools to the existing quality program.
- Travel to construction projects to perform assessments as required
- Infill as project Quality Control Manager as needed
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- A graduate of a four-year accredited college or university program in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or Building Science.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the industry, with at least ten (10) years of US Department of Defense (DoD) quality control management experience as a contractor.
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification as Quality Auditor or Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence
- Valid USACE/NAVFAC Construction Quality Management for Contractors training certification required
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Proficiency in RMS (Resident Management System) and eCMS (Electronic Construction and Facility Support Contract Management System)
Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.
The pay ranges from $181,000-$221,900 plus benefits and retirement program.
