Quality Assurance Engineer

1st Shift, 6:30AM - 3:00PM, Monday - Friday

Salaried, $75,000 - $120,000 Annually DOE

RESPONSIBILITY:

Plans, directs, and executes activities pertaining to development, application and maintenance of quality management system standards for McGard/LDM processes, materials and products by performing the following activities.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Committed to ensuring the achievement of continuous improvement within area of expertise, as well as areas of business in order to remain at the forefront of meeting Company objectives, thus proactively satisfying customers.
  • This position mandates that all required safety classes, trainings, and certifications be completed and maintained within the specific position/department.
  • Is aware of relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives.
  • This position requires an employee to work their regularly scheduled shift; ability to work overtime & weekends.
  • Must be aware of and comply with related IATF/ISO procedures, as applicable.
  • Must meet qualitative and quantitative standards for the position and department.


Root Cause/Corrective Action (CAR) Development
  • Assists other departments with the development of root cause and corrective action activities.
  • Ensures proper root cause analysis was performed.
  • Responsible for the approval of CAR's and for ensuring proper follow-up of the root cause solution and implementation.


Quality Systems
  • Designs, installs, and evaluates quality process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques associated with new and existing products.
  • Shall be an active team member contributing to the advance quality planning process.
  • Develops procedures for inspection and testing criteria, including Control Plans and Process Flows.
  • Leads continuous improvement projects and initiatives.


Supplier Development
  • Works with suppliers to ensure their quality management system meets our expectations.
  • Assists and mentors suppliers with the development of corrective actions and root cause development.


Troubleshooting
  • Strong working knowledge of all processes in LDM and McGard - includes manufacturing processes, assembly processes, outside processes, shipping, production control, and product development.
  • Trained in problem solving techniques including six sigma, root cause analysis.


Coaching & Mentoring
  • Helps other departments with root cause analysis.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to QA Technicians.
  • Provides training to QA and other departments on quality concepts, problem solving tools, and quality management systems.


Customer Focus
  • Coordinates/assists with the coordination of customer audits and visits.
  • Works directly with our customers on quality related issues.

EDUCATION / SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
  • B.S. in Industrial/Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or related curriculum preferred.
  • Three (3) years minimum experience in a quality related position.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) a plus.
  • IATF/ISO and APQP experience preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Minitab experience.
