About the PositionThe Voluntary Disclosure Unit situated in Brooklyn, Pretoria has an opportunity for a skilled individual driven by the SARS Strategic Intent. Our mandate is to ensure optimal compliance with tax legislation. We do this through fostering a culture of voluntary compliance and by making it easy for taxpayers and traders to comply with their legal obligations.
Candidates should possess excellent knowledge and interpretation of SARS functional policies and procedures, including monitoring their consistent application within the organisation. The successful candidate should also have a sound knowledge and understanding of the various taxes administered by SARS and the ability to mentor and coach others on technical matters to ensure that SARS interprets and applies the legislative framework effectively and accurately. Strong customer focus, research capability, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Candidates should possess a sound knowledge of tax assessments and SARS systems.
The Consultant: Quality Management will be responsible for implementing; monitoring, managing, and enhancing quality assurance across the VDU's end-to-end processes. The role will focus on evaluating operational effectiveness, identifying process improvement opportunities, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and driving continuous service delivery improvements. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the monitoring and management of complaint cases, ensuring that complaints are handled efficiently, consistently, and within prescribed turnaround times.
This position is critical as the VDU currently does not have a permanent dedicated resource responsible for quality management, quality assurance oversight, and the end-to-end monitoring of complaint management processes. The successful candidate will therefore play a key role in strengthening governance, enhancing operational excellence, and supporting the unit's commitment to high-quality service delivery.
Job Purpose To implement and execute quality assurance audits and provide general assistance to the division in executing their responsibilities.
Education and ExperienceMinimum Qualification & Experience Required Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Quality Management / Auditing / Risk AND 5 - 7 years experience in Quality Management, Legislative and Regulatory Compliance, Tax Assessments environment, of which 2 - 3 years at a technically skilled level.
Alternatively #Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 10 years' experience in Quality Management, Legislative and Regulatory Compliance, Tax Assessments environment, of which 2 - 3 years at a technically skilled level.
Minimum Functional Requirements The ability to implement and apply quality management principles, SARS functional policies, tax legislation, data analysis, risk assessment and reporting skills to evaluate operational performance, identify process gaps, monitor complaint management, ensure compliance, and recommend continuous improvement interventions within the VDU environment.
